It is a struggle because most of the students don't know where their chromebook is to complete the work on their computer. I have written the plan for each day on the board that we will follow but it has still been a struggle to get the students to complete the required minutes and get their progress monitoring done.

IF for my class is concerning because a significant portion, especially students in need) of my students are in school groups (Club, program, or athletics) during the 1st-period session and come to class late. On top of the fact that students already come to class late due to morning transportation.

1st period

-a lot to do in a short amount of time

-by the time I get started its over

- lots of distractions with late buses, announcements. and locker break.

-by the time announcements are off I have about 15minutes to teach before locker time.

-8:30- 9:00 time could be used as well but its hard keeping scholars focused when I'm in the hallway and scholars are coming in and people are walking by in the hallway

- My second step runs into Tuesday because I don't have enough time to complete it on Monday.

- 1st period could be used as a study hall or IXL time. When they put on headphones and work to avoid distractions if not, INCREASE the time for 1st period please

7th Grade - IF/1st

The students are bored with the materials being given during 1st period. Sometimes the assignments given take less time than the days given on the lesson plan. So, students are bored the next day. Then, on the other hand with the buses getting here late it takes forever before we can even start the assignments some days. Especially on Mondays with Second Step.... I feel like we should be able to freely help the students during 1st period with other classwork or whatever they need to get them through the day.

The time is crunched because with late buses and announcements and locker break coming at the end of the period. It's hard to get in a lesson. The kids mindset when they first come in is not on academics.

I just need someone to come in and model how I am suppose to teach this program to the students. I am a visual learner. Sitting in front of a computer screen listening to someone talk is not showing me anything.

There are a lot of distractions during IF block. Kids are usually late, waiting for buses. Also a lot of them do not have a chrome books, so it is harder to get them to complete the assignments. In my opinion, having IF in the middle of the day may be more beneficial because they are typically more engaged when they come from connections.
