This program overall has taught me so much about why it is important to learn about other cultures. Most of Latin America is overshadowed by a select few countries, which paint a story of latinos as a whole. The truth is, that every country has a unique and rich history that is worth celebrating and discussing; I’m very happy to have gotten some more insight onto another latin culture!

This course gave me a great chance to learn about cross-cultural communication. I shared a video about traditional food, talked about career goals in a phone call, and worked with my classmates on writing a professional email. By comparing our foods, career dreams, and personal experiences, I learned a lot about different cultures. These activities showed me that, even with our differences, we can always learn from each other. It was a fun and useful experience.

I learned that people all over the world are working towards their dreams and goals. It was a huge pleasure to work with my coil partners and learn more about them and their careers. Not only did I learn that UPNFM was a school to mainly become a teacher, but that being a teacher isn't what it's cut out to be in Honduras. But what I learned from my partners is that as long as you love the job and what you're doing, that's what matters. I got to learn about their families, personal lives, goals, different foods, and dreams, I got to learn so much from my peers in Honduras. This opportunity showed me that while we live in different countries we all strive to do what we love.

I had more fun than I expected with this project. I've learned how beautiful a place Honduras, as well as the cultural significance it holds. I understand just how important their career choices are to them as well has the impact it could make in other countries. Different way of living, lovely environment and scenery, everything was just amazing. Something else I really got to learn from my partners though was how much music can bring us together. We had shared an interest in kpop and went on for a good while about different artists we listen to. As for cross-cultural communication, this just goes to show that music is something that really unites the people no matter where you come from. I wish I got to speak to them more through out the process. They were so sweet!

Through this project, I had the chance to discover your culture and interact with you. It was so exciting to learn about your traditions, perspectives, and way of life.

This experience showed me how beautiful and interesting cultural diversity is. I loved talking with you, and it made me even more curious about Honduras. Just two cultures, one friendship, and I feel like learning from each other brings us closer.

Now, I really want to visit one day and experience everything in person! This project was such a great opportunity, and I’m so grateful to have been part of it.

Throughout this project, I learned a lot of new things about Honduras, and my coil partners. The students in UPNFM share common interests and goals, they are both trying to earn a bachelor's degree at their university. They both plan on being English teachers, which is super interesting; they speak English well already and do not doubt that they will succeed. I got to learn so much with my peers in the project, and I recommend anyone to do this. This project showed me that we live in different countries but still have common goals!

This experience has taught me about the education in other countries, the similarities, and the differences we share. I connected with other students across the country, sharing our interests and aspects of being a student in our own country. They taught me how different their school is from mine, how they're by a beach and go for a big meal during lunch time, and how they spend their free time. Although we shared a lot of differences, we all want to earn our bachelor's degrees. They shared childhood stories that were similar to mine, as we share common traditions. This experience led me to do cultural communication from home and meet people in Honduras.

I enjoyed the COIL project. It was interesting to learn about the goals that students in other countries are pursuing, and recognize the differences and similarities. I also thought it was really cool to talk about our favorite meals. I really liked the information that we learned about Francisco Morazan University, it was interesting to hear that it is such a specialized school. I think discussing such useful skills like writing a persuasive email in the context of comparing our educational experiences was very unique.

I enjoyed doing this project, I have never done anything like it before and it was interesting to learn about how they live. From my partners I learned that they have had the passion to be a teacher since they were children. That is very special because having good teachers is very important. I loved to see all of the different foods they have and my partners and I actually shared the same favorite desserts. Both of them live close to their schools like most of us here as well. It is interesting that their entire school is learning and training to become teachers, that makes me happy that so many people have the abilities to do that. I am sure it is difficult to be patient all of the time with the young kids, I applaud them for that. This showed me that even from across the world we are not all that different, we all want to accomplish so many things. This experience was fun and I hope it is continued on for the next students!

This experience has given me a lot of insight, and it gave me a chance to immerse myself in the culture without really being there. I shared a photo of some traditional Honduran breakfast. What I also find interesting is that they also have some of the same dreams, goals, and aspirations just like anyone else, and they also work really hard. I also enjoyed learning that they like the same hobbies and that they also share some similar struggles. This experience was very positive, and I hope there is more to come in the future. It was also a fantastic learning experience.

We started sharing with our partners around Valentine’s Day. With that I got to learn about what people in Honduras did for tradition on that holiday. While also learning that they may share the same interests of me and other interests. I also got to learn about my partners and their career aspirations and how they plan to pursue them in life. I enjoyed learning about other cultures and working in a team environment.

What makes me most happy is connecting with others. I love meeting new people, being social, and engaging in empowering discussions.

This experience was new for me, at the beginning I was very anxious and excited at the same time because of interacting with some of you, also I felt worried about your different English accents and If I was going to have any issues understanding you, but fortunately I could and it was awesome to share with you about our goals and the things that we enjoy to do. After all, I could say that I learned a lot of how to establish good communication with a native speaker, also doing teamwork with my partners and how to improve my skills in writing persuasive emails.

Through my experience at COIL, I learned the value of collaborating with students from other countries. I learned more not only about the topic we were working on, but also about different cultures and thought processes. Working remotely was a challenge at first, but I soon realized that technology and teamwork allowed us to achieve success. This activity helped me improve my communication skills, adapt to new work methods, and see the value of learning from people from different parts of the world, in this case, the United States.

Despite difficulties such as schedules and other academic expectations, the experience strengthened my problem-solving skills and global perspective. This project was a wonderful experience, as I learned a lot about other cultures through their traditional dishes. It also allowed me to connect with others and engage in meaningful activities such as email exchanges and video calls. I chose this image because it represents the moment when cross-cultural communication became real and personal for me. I was amazed at how easy it was to interact with and understand two very different people concurrently from the same country! During my call with Erliany and Edier, we didn’t just talk about school and the assignment, we shared what it was like to live in each other’s countries. We also delved into our traditions and even our struggles. That conversation helped me (and both of them, I hope) see how culture shapes how we communicate, express and accept respect, and most importantly, build relationships.

This experience made me more aware of my own communication style and taught me to listen with intention. I’ve learned that cross-cultural communication isn't about being perfect; it's about being open, curious, and willing to listen to different perspectives with respect and empathy. That shift in mindset has helped me grow personally and academically, and it's definitely something I’ll carry with me into future collaborations.

I really liked this experience because it showed me how students in Honduras live and study. I got to connect with a new culture and appreciated how we are both different and alike. We shared stories about our lives, and I learned that some of our traditions are similar, like family gatherings and holiday celebrations. Even though our daily lives and futures are different, we all want to become teachers and make a difference in the world. The COIL project was an incredible experience. The enriching knowledge I gained from different cultures and the opportunity to hear everyone's accents broadened my experience as an English learner. Additionally, made my first email application helped me to take care about small details in writing, I will also take advantage of every correction my COIL partner gave me to enhance my skill. My daily life also needs more activities like this to improve the language, and I really appreciate that Dr. Manson and Mrs. Wood had the idea of creating this space where we can practice and expand our knowledge.

First, I think this experience was really productive, when I started this COIL I was really nervous, but when I talked to my COIL partner it was the complete opposite. She was really kind, understanding and fun! Her personality is very nice. This project gave the opportunity to improve important professional skills.

Nevertheless, I think that something was missing and that I would have liked to do was talk not only with my COIL partner, but also with the rest. Perhaps, in a brief meeting to talk about our cultures or a specific topic. Because it'svery important for us to hear different accents. In conclusión, this COIL was amazing and I hope to continue with this typesod activities.

My experience with COIL: COIL was a truly incredible opportunity to connect with students from the United States. I couldn't stop laughing when I learned how many things we shared. Despite the cultural exchange, we shared the same dreams and goals. The most interesting aspect was, without a doubt, the cultural aspect because it helped me see things from a different perspective. At first, it wasn't easy being remote; we didn't have the same schedule, but technology and group work made it much easier. It definitely helped me improve my communication skills and adapt to new colleagues. So, in short, it was a positive experience, and I wish there were more activities.

Hello everyone!

I would like to share all of my experiences, but one thing I will always remember is my partner Angelina, and the fact that I got to share this experience with her and Andrea. I really loved it.

I believe these activities help us learn more about the cultures of different places, as well as different accents, perspectives of life, and they help us overcome the fear of interacting with native English speakers. It’s truly a beautiful thing.

I liked that each of my teammates was always very responsible and kind, and we even exchanged our social media.

Participating in this project was a totally enriching experience for me, sharing my personal tastes and a bit of my gastronomic tradition as part of this process was something unique, not only did I improve my English but I also learned about their culture and way of thinking. This COIL project was an amazing opportunity to learn about different cultures while also reflecting on my own. One of the most important things I gained was that, even though we live in different countries, we share many common goals and experiences.

During this COIL exchange, I had the opportunity to engage in a meaningful conversation with someone from the U.S. about her life and career. Participating has been an incredibly enriching experience for me. Through this process, I have had the opportunity to learn more about their culture, traditions, and, something I love, their favorite foods.

From the beginning, I was excited about the idea of sharing my own culture while also discovering what life is like for students in another country. Learning about their traditional dishes, their eating customs, and the history behind their recipes made me realize that food is much more than just nourishment it is a way to connect with others and better understand their way of life.

What I enjoyed the most was finding similarities between our cultures and seeing how, despite our differences, there is always something that unites us. This experience has taught me to appreciate diversity even more and the importance of keeping an open mind to new perspectives.

What I liked about this project was the relationship we made with colleagues from other countries and sharing a little of each different culture, I also really liked the experience of working with other colleagues from other countries, since I had never had such an experience and that despite the difference in languages we knew how to communicate and we had a lot of empathy with each other and that is very important in a group work, for me it was an important experience since this helped me a lot with the language and put it in practice because it is very Different to listen to native English, but everything was very clear and I loved listening to my partner speak.
