However, I would have to know their personalities in order to see who's character would best fulfill the duties of the job. Additionally, person B is a job hopper so I would not want to have a short term employee. Person B would perhaps be more well rounded than Person A, which can make them a more competitive candidate. This is a difficult decision considering both have advantages for the job.

I like how Hartley gave background into her upbringing, making it easy to understand where she came from and how she did not have an advantageous childhood. This demonstrates that someone successful can come from places where things aren't in their odds.

Person A may struggle based on a variety of factors in the job environment required of them. However, if Person B had a well-rounded out background or personal essay about her experiences in those occupations and to what areas of expertise can be provided, then her chances may improve exponentially. So in short, I'd begrudgingly hire person A based on credentials alone and the longevity that can be provided by their stable, relatively impressive background or not, who knows if I had no other choice? Person B comes close due to a strong degree of resilience. Perhaps a career posting based on less competitive standards will have Person B standing a better chance. Failures present opportunities for success, both deserving a job interview. However, work ethic, vision, and drive trump all! Without any additional information one can only assume the character of these people. From my skewed perspective I would choose person B who has more real world work experience. Yes both are qualified and person A has a reputable education but that’s all. People have  addressed that Ivy League schools don't offer a superior education compared to a state school, they exist for the title and the connections. I believe adaptability to be a far more useful skill than any Ivy league and that is exactly what Person B shows, even with their job hopping they have a wide range of recourses to pull from.

Question - I recognize that the "silver spoon" may seem like they had life handed to them on a silver platter but why make that assumption?

Comment - In regards to my question, yes perhaps Person A had university paid for by their parents, or maybe they worked hard enough to receive a scholarship and they are another scrapper. Looking at this and only seeing black and white is, to put it simply is narrow minded. The speaker is making too many assumptions about the candidates from their resume alone.
