I would give this 10 out of 10 stars. I would definitely recommend this book if you like history. The book is sad but shows good characteristics in Elie and his father. They never give up. The book makes you feel like you were there. You are at the camp, you are Elie. You fell what Elie felt, you see what he saw. This book is a time machine. This book should be something everyone reads. If you like reading or not, you will not be able to put this book down.

"Never shall I forget those flames which consumed my faith forever. Never shall I forget that nocturnal silence which deprived me, for all eternity, of the desire to live. Never shall I forget those moments which murdered my God and my soul and turned my dreams to dust. Never shall I forget these things, even if I am condemned to live as long as God Himself. Never." (Wiesel 34).

Response To Quote

Hearing this quote pulls at your heart strings. As you read that quote you can hear the pain he has. The quote is referring to when he was in line and saw the bodies and the smoke from the crematorium. This one quote tells of so many human right violations, the biggest violations the quote shows is freedom, freedom of life, and freedom of religion. They are enslaving Jewish people and killing them. This takes away their life, freedom, and shows the Nazi's prejudices and discrimination towards Judaism. Anyone would feel awful for horrendous things that happened during the Holocaust. This quote is an example of all the pain the Jewish people felt.

The review is brief but it tells the main ideas. It talks about why the book was written and the emotion behind it. I don't think this review really did the book justice. The book is so much more than a memoir. This book takes you back into history with so much detail it's as if you were there.

Logan has played difficult roles before such as Charlie in Perks of Being a Wallflower. I think Logan could play the role of Elie because Logan has a sad look to him which goes with this awful event. I think he could get into the role of Elie because Logan has played sad roles well as if the events happened to him. I don't think anyone could truly feel what the Jewish people felt/feel. I think Logan would capture as much as anyone.
