I feel i don't share experiences like her much maybe just preferring a parent more than the other. My family is different because my parents do work and bring back money so we have a living, food, clothes, beds, etc. My parents also always tried to make an effort to buy us the things we need, always have a way to get to school, go out to eat. I learned you should never pity or shame anyone even the parents because we don't know what their story is or how they got there. I also learned to the kids are never at fault for the chooses the parents make.

Resilience is shown in these few pages when after she got home from the hospital her told told her to always face down her enemies so she passed her finger through a candle flame. Another way it is shown is when rose had a baby before Lori but lost her and talked about how she almost lost Brian too but instead of being sad or be pity she would make jokes out of them.

Their neighbor who took Janette to the hospital was questioning why Janette wouldn't run the other direction from the fire. Rex said "She already fought the fire once and won." (Walls 9). This quote stood out to me because she's not afraid of fire even after what happened to her.

The author at the age of 3 was making herself food because he parents said she is capable of doing it on her own. This shows a perspective that the author is independent because at a young age she was doing this most kids her age still weren't able to comprehend well.

This book evokes feelings of surprised, pity, confusion. They're always on the run. So they don't have a stable place to be at, their parents are always having them or letting them be in dangerous situations, they also don't have a stable living and work environment.

A pattern i see is the running away when things get bad and leaving the kids alone. They run away from the bank collected.

There are class differences by showing Rosemary mom having money. They're not having much but getting around. There is also Billy's dad who is drunk all the time and lives a worse life than her and her family.

The economic conditions characterize their lives because of the way they think and do things like running away when they're in trouble, how they sleep, and eat.

From what we have read their values are independence and money because their parents are always leaving them or letting them do things on their own. Money is shown by them running away from bank people.

Rex was speaking and he was teaching Janette how to swim but wasn't guarding her he was just throwing her in the pool. "If you don't want to sink, you better figure out how to swim."- Rex. This quote stood out to me because he was just throwing her in and letting her sink. Basically teaching her how to be independent and figuring things out on her own.

The feelings and emotions i feel for her are pitiful and afraid because of they way she gets treated by her parents and her living condition knowing if her parents actually tried they would be able to give them all a better life. I also feel afraid for her because nowadays if kids are going through what she went through they would get separated for not taking care of their kids the proper way. In the book a part that brings out those feelings is when she was too innocent to know what Billy had tried to SA her.

Non conformity is shown in these few pages when Rosemary gets a job as a teacher and is still not able to provide for her family. Her kids still lack clothes, happiness, ability to eat school lunch. this is also shown when dad got let go of his job and was now just depending on Rosemary's job. Once after school Rex insisted on escording her to the bank but he only went to take her money. Rosemary would take the kids with her so she would be able to sneak some money to them.
