Although it is my second time going It was like learning all over again. Fishing is not all about catching the biggest fish. We enjoy being away from everything no service and not many people. Just peace and quiet. It is very relaxing watching the ocean and seeing dolphins come by once in while. It does get very intense once you catch fish fighting it to come up from the ocean. Who in this chapter goes by Alex after meeting an Electrician named Jim Gallien. Giving Christopher a ride Gallien notices he is carrying a Rifle(Pg. 4) and seems unprepared for a hike. Driving towards Denali National Park(P.4) in a ford(P.4) pickup truck. Christopher claims that he will be fine from Gallien concerns and he will live off the land. Although Gallien still concerned he realized that Alex boots aren't well insulated(P.5) nor waterproof. His rifle is only a 22. Caliber(P.5) that is no match for big animals. Still concerned Gallien drops Alex off on a stampede trail. Gallien gifts Alex food and a pair of working boots along with a phone number. Driving off Gallien sees state troopers, Considering telling them about Alex. Gallien decides that Alex will be fine and will end up coming back. 

Analysis: Chris adventure is pretty inspiring this man shows that anything can be done with a risk. Although I would have been more prepared. Which shows that Chris is way more confident in his work. Entering the woods with very little supplies is very risky. I would have suggested Chris not to take.

In 1961 a company who goes by The Fairbanks Company(P.10) won a contract to upgrade the trail. Building hauled 3 buses leaving one behind dedicated for hunters(P.10) and trappers. Ken Thompson along with two friends set out a trip for the bus on September 6, 1992(11) Meeting two other hikers they smell a disturbing odor coming from the bus along with a carved in SOS(P. 13) note. Samel a friend of Ken decides to examine the bus only to find Chris belongings and deceased body. Finding a solution the group end up calling the state trooper to evacuate the body. With his body badly decomposed and unable to identify the cause of death. Considering Chris cause of death as starvation.

Analysis: With just Chris SOS note. The note shows how bad Chris was suffering on his final days. Although Chris died doing what he loved. Who knows that may have been how he would want go out. Dying lonely is unfortunate my condolences go out to Chris.

The author Jon Krakauer meets with Wayne(P.16) Westerberg as he told the story. The relation started when Westernberg picked up chris(P.16) as a normal hitchiker. Quickly built a strong bond Chris decided to stay with Westernberg.  Westernberg realized how great shape Chris is compared to others. Chris decided to claim Carthage(P.15) as his home. After going to college in emory(P.20) Chris decides to escape and start a new life.

Analysis: Chris was a lonely guy, he had no one until he found Wayne Westernberg. I respect Westernberg for taking such a big responsibility.Its cool of him to accept him in his family and treat him as their own. Which made Chris standout and show what he can really do.

A friend of westerberg calls about a radio(P.100) station stating facts about an unknown deceased Hiker(P.100) that sound similar to Alex. Westerberg calls the station proving Chris Identity with W-2 Forms and his social security. 

Analysis: Finding the identity of Chris must have been hard knowing the technology back then. Im honestly surprised random people were trying to claim this body. It his crazy how it only took two coincidences.

Explaining how his fathers actions made his entire childhood seem like a fiction. As a way to cope with his feeling Chris decides to go on road trips rarely contacting his family.

Analysis: I enjoy this chapter because we learn more about Chris Mccandles and why he does the things he does. I believe that Chris Mccandles handled his pain very well. Although he could have handled it better. Carine was always caring towards Chris. What if Chris actions had a toll on her. Even though he didnt get the ending that he wanted. Walt did the things he did. He never left, he worked just as hard to provide for both sides. This is a man who owns up to his wrongs and tries to make it right.

They travel to Alaska to collect Chris's ashes and belongings of his rifle and a roll of film.

Analysis: Although Chris had it hard with his folks. Love will always remain. If only the family were able to talk things out before his passing. Especially for Carine it sucks how she couldn´t get the answers that she wanted.

While the narrator shares his own into the wild backstory. As a carpenter Jon Krakuer decides to take his chances and climb the Devil's Thumb known as a difficult peak to climb. Making progress climbing Krakeur nearly falls due to the weather, Forcing him to take camp on a plateau. Requesting an airdrop for supplies ahead of time. The pilot misreads Krakeur coordinates and almost misses him. After the weather clears up Krakeur continues his adventure up the Devils Thumb. Krauker now seeing 3,700 feet below him, He begins to panic and hyperventilate. With fear Krauker decides to climb down. 

Analysis: This man has balls to climb a mountain like that. I have went through crazy events but this is something I  wouldn´t do. I would consider this climb suicide. Reading how near death this man was close to just to accomplish something from his father is crazy.

To pass time Krauker decides to smoke his marijuana cigarette that he has been saving to celebrate. Krakauer, getting the munchies, decides to make himself some oatmeal. Leading him to nearly lighting his fathers tent on fire. Dropping the temperature inside his tent by thirty degrees. Reminiscing his father pushing him to get good grades hoping they will have a shining career in the medicine department. Through Krakuer teenage years their home is full of ultimatums. Krakuer moves away to a far-off college distancing himself from his father. We learn that Lewis is experiencing post-polio syndrome. That causes Lewis to have an addiction with pharmaceuticals. This flashback leaves the reader to continue climbing The Devils Thumb. Achieving his climb Krakuer takes photographs to prove that he climbed the summit. 

Analysis:  Like I said this man is crazy how can you spend days in a tent knowing the weather outside can kill you. Just to pass time you smoke a blunt. This man literally almost lit the only tent that is keeping him warm from the weather. It happens though we all do our thing that leads to mistakes. Hope this mans father gets well though. I know how it is having family members with drug problems.

Attempting to catch a ride he has no luck for about two days. Still impatiently in the river Mccandles meets a trucker delivering a motorhome heading towards the same location as mccandless. Stuckey reconsidering taking McCandless north knowing his company has a strict rule of hitchhikers decides to take McCandless halfway. Throughout the ride Stuckey decides to take McCandles the whole way. Arriving in Fairbanks Mccandles studies a book on plants to eat and ends up purchasing a gun in a parking lot. Back on the road we see that Mccandles gets a ride from our old friend Jim Gallien. Into the bush we learn that Mccandles had a difficult Killing Game. Luckily by Mid-may the snow started to go down allowing Mccandles to rely on lingonberries. Struggling Mccandles spent four months not encountering a single soul. Finally killing a moose Mccandles spent days Toiling the moose. Unfortunately the meat ended up spoiling. Deciding and preparing to go home starting a twenty mile hike. Mccandles comes across a strong enough river to knock him off his feet. Forcing Mccandles to have to walk back to the bus. 

Analysis: In this story it shows how Mccandles is a cool guy. Even the trucker decided to let him stick around knowing his company policy. He even tried looking for him after his delivery got delayed. Other than that Mccandles should have bought a sniper rifle. Im no hunter but Ive killed bunnies with a sniper rifle. Im also a Veteran in Black Ops 2. All Jokes aside it sucks how Mccandles grand prize animal had to spoil. Also how Mccandles tried returning but couldn´t make it due to the weather.

Revisiting the Teklanika River on the other side from where Mccandles was. Krakueker, well equipped with a map learns that there is a gauging station. After 20 minutes(P.173) fighting through spruce and birch they find a steel cable that hydrologists(P.173) use. Krakuer along with his companions cross the river in search of the bus. Arriving on the bus the group sees the bones of the animals Mccandles got scattered around. Taking a view inside the bus and finding some of Chris´s belongings like Jim Gallien boots with his name on them. The group spends the night drinking and grilling their food on the same grill Chris used. Talking about Mccandles adventure. 

Analysis: Krakuer back at it again with his sick homie activies. This man wants to experience what Mccandles went through with some cheat codes. Although if only Mccandles had that map would have saved his life. Maybe there is a deeper meaning on why he didnt carry one.
