I chose to read this book because I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and read a book that’s more intriguing. The book is focused on 2 high school seniors, Pam Jackson and Sherri Miller. They had gone missing for nearly 40 years just to be found in a creek all those years

The start of the book took place in May 1971. The cold case had been closed in the fall of 2014. This time period had impacted the case because they didn't have the technology we have today to help find the girls. Causing them to work much harder and still not gaining very many leads. The story had mainly taken place in Vermillion, South Dakota, but occasionally it would move to the Sioux Falls penitentiary. It had impacted many lives because the family and friends of those girls never officially got an answer of what had happened to them, most of them had eventually passed by the time the case closed. Along with David Lykken’s family having to go through their farm getting anpart and the accusations of being family to a murderer.

There wasn’t a major message to this book but from what I gained is that don’t look for something too hard it could be right underneath your nose. I know the purpose of the book because after 40 years the car had been in the same place you just needed to look in the right spot. Knowing the horrors the families of those girls had to go through and being grateful for the life they live, not having to go through that trauma.
