For example:
When you see someone while you're eating, you are to offer them some food and they are to decline even if they are hungry. 
Lunch is eaten at 2 to 3 pm. Lunch is also the biggest meal of the day, while dinner is eaten similarly to breakfast.
Restaurants bills are never divided. Men usually pay instead of women, and they would argue who would pay, while close friends cycle turns.

Placing the right hand on the heart when meeting someone is a signal of affection.

Syrians are very affectionate and friendly people. Men walk linking arms or holding hands and hug and kiss a great deal, just like women. Close physical contact in public is more common between people of the same gender than it is between girlfriend and boyfriend or husband and wife.

The educated upper classes, particularly the young, tend to prefer modern Western attire. These women favor bright colors, jewelry, makeup, and high heels; men wear dressy slacks and shirts. 
Blue jeans and T-shirts are quite rare, as are shorts and miniskirts and bare shoulders or upper arms for women. Traditionally, it is a sign of wealth and status in a family for its women to dress in long robes with their faces veiled.

Syrians are keenly interested in international politics and culture, which many follow through national radio and television programs as well as those broadcast from other Middle Eastern countries and from Europe. 
The Ministry of Culture and National Guidance has been active in directing and promoting the nation’s cultural life. An important objective has been the affirmation of the Arab national character in the face of foreign cultural influences.
The family is the heart of Syrian social life. Neighborly relations and friendships even among members of different religions are common in Syrian cities. Muslim men may marry non-Muslim women, although non-Muslim may not marry Muslim men.; interdenominational marriages among Christians are legal but require permission from both denominations. Family ultimately decide if they agree to let their sons and daughters marry someone.

10% are Christians and 16% are Alawite, Druze, and other Muslim sects.
There are also small Jewish communities in Damascus, Aleppo.
Although Alawite is a sect of Muslims, it is speculated and thought as if they don't observe the month of Ramadan. They also do not make a pilgrimage to Mecca as other Muslims do and celebrate some Christian holidays.
The practices of the Druze are also somewhat mysterious to the common people. A smaller group known as the Ismailis recognizes a living person, the Aga Khan, as their sacred leader.
Another branch of Islam that is also very mysterious and unknown, called sufi, has a small presence in Syria, although the government sees this sect as subversive and disapproves of its practice. Sufi rituals involve chanting and dancing while moving in a circular formation.
