School dinners are charged at £3.15 per day (£15.75 per week). Children in Reception, Years 1 & 2 are entitled to Universal Free School Meals (UFSM), meaning they are not charged for school dinners.

We want to make sure that as many eligible pupils as possible are claiming their benefit-related free school meals and this is important even if your child is currently receiving a Free Meal as they are in Early Years, Year 1 or Year 2.

Registering for free school meals will enable school to claim their 'pupil premium allocation'. Pupil premium is additional funding that can help support your child in school. More information about pupil premium can be found on our school website or by speaking to staff in the school office.

Which children will require an alternative menu?

✓ Children with diagnosed food allergies or diagnosed food intolerances.

✓ Children with other medical conditions requiring an adapted menu, for example Type 1 Diabetes, PKU, Cystic Fibrosis, Ketogenic Diets, amongst others.

X Those with religious, cultural, or personal requirements/ preferences, can choose from the standard menu and do not need to complete a medical diet request form. This includes vegetarian, pescatarian, vegan and Halal requirements.

How to apply for an alternative menu

• Supply a recent photograph of your child.

• Provide medical evidence if required (see below).

Medical evidence – do I need it?

You do not need to provide medical evidence if your child only needs to avoid any of the top 14 allergens.

Medical evidence is needed for:

✓ Allergies to any food not listed in the top 14 allergens e.g. pea.

✓ A combination of the top 14 allergens and non-top 14 allergens e.g. gluten and pea

✓ Medical conditions requiring an adapted menu e.g. Type 1 Diabetes

The cost per session for Breakfast Club is £7 per child. Places need to be booked in advance and are payable at the time of booking.

Items without the school logo are acceptable and available at a reasonable price from several outlet providers e.g. Asda, Marks and Spencers, Victoria 2 schoolwear etc.

You don’t have to commit to anything and everything, we all lead such busy lives, but if you feel that you would like to become involved or would like to know more please do get in touch with either school or Mrs Cotgrove, the Chair. 

Parental support comes in many shapes and forms across various schools. We are fortunate at Flintham to be strengthening of our group by way of making the ‘The Friends of Flintham'  PTA team to harness this support. 

The key roles are held by: Chair of The Friends of Flintham is Mrs Cotgrove, Treasurer is Mrs Klingbeil and Secretary is Mrs Boyle. These are just the key roles, there are other parents involved as part of the team too. 

In the past, we have hosted Summer and Christmas Fayres, A Race Night, Casino Night, and Jumble Sale, that have all benefited the children significantly. Look out for any future events. 

Of course the financial benefits of such a group are obvious. However, we believe that the social element and overall benefits to our school community are of upmost importance. Essentially we think that we can all gain something from having a strong Flintham family all working together for the good of the school community.

By becoming a member of The Friends of Flintham PTA team you can become an important part of helping to ensure that this idea become a reality. Please join with us to make a difference to the education, health, and welfare of our children.

KS2 fruit - children can bring their own fruit for break time.

The following information shows how school attendance can affect your child's future progress. 

Above 97%: 

Above 97%. Less than 6 days absence a year: Excellent attendance! Pupils with this attendance should achieve the best grades they can leading to best possible start in their secondary education. 

95%: 

95%. Less than 10 days absence in a year: Pupils with this attendance are likely to achieve their target grades and will be well prepared for starting secondary education 

90%: 

90%. 19 days absence over the year: Pupils with this attendance are missing a month of school per year and may fall behind in Maths and Literacy; it will be difficult for them to achieve their best. 

85%: 

85%. 29 days absence in a year: These pupils are missing 6 weeks of school a year, it will be very difficult for them to keep up and achieve their best. 

80%: 

80%. Pupils with this attendance are missing a day for every week of school.  It will be almost impossible to keep up with work.  Parents of pupils with this level of attendance could be issued with a Penalty Notice. 

If your child is absent from school without notice, the school will text/telephone the parent on every day of absence if the school have not been notified.

Children returning to school after illness should clearly be fit to do so and free from infection. If your child suffers from a bout of sickness or diarrhoea they you should keep your child off school for a minimum of 48 hours after the last episode.

It is strongly advised that holidays are only taken during school holiday times, thereby ensuring the minimum disturbance to your child’s education.  

If you do find it necessary to request a leave of absence during term time, it will continue to be necessary to complete a leave of absence form. These are available from the school office and the school website. The request will be considered in line with the government’s guidelines.

You are eligible to apply for a place at our school in Early Years using their Universal 15 Hours Funding (available to all parents). Parents, who meet the eligibility criteria will be entitled to an additional 15 hours extended funding.

The school is unable to administer any medicines unless they are prescribed by a doctor. Children who use inhalers will have them stored in the classroom. These must be clearly named.

If severe weather occurs overnight, please do not telephone school, but listen to Radio Nottingham or Capital FM. All school closures are broadcast at regular intervals when we have unexpected weather conditions.

If the weather deteriorates during the day, and you are concerned about travelling, you may collect your child from school early, but they will not be allowed to make their way home unaccompanied.

All uniform can be purchased and ordered from the school office. If your child has shoes with laces, please help them to learn to tie them. A school book bag is also available from the office.

Hair should be tied back and earrings removed for PE.

Watches (excluding smart watches), religious jewellery and stud earrings only. Please discourage your child from bringing any valuable jewellery/watches to school.

Long hair should be tied up at school with appropriate accessories e.g. bobble, small scrunchie or plain head band (no big bows or headbands with bits sticking up such as ears).

Nail varnish is not allowed in school.

8:45am

The bell will be rung at 8:45am and children line on the playground. Teachers will collect the children and walk them into school. The register and dinner register will be taken as soon as the children are in school.

Morning Break

10:45am until 11:00am.

Children can have a piece of fruit or a healthy cereal type bar only for snack at playtime. (Fruit is provided for all children in Early Years, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2).

12:00 pm until 1:00 pm

Afternoon Break

EYFS and KS1 have a 15 minute break at some point in the afternoon, at the teachers discretion.

For KS2 this is at the teachers own discretion.

End of the School Day

3:15pm

In an afternoon the school gates are opened at 3:10pm with the school day ending at 3:15pm. Unless your child is in reception you will not need to come through the gates in an afternoon.
