Outsiders could easily obtain a set of the uniform to get into the school campus, and if you ask me, this is a much bigger safety hazard than checking student id cards. At least by checking student id cards, we can compare the picture on the id with the actual person. Whereas if an outsider gets a uniform, he/she is literally allowed to bypass the gates without question. Take a step back think, this school was built for us to have an not oppressed environment to learn, if such uniform rule is forced on us, is it any different than Chinese public school? You mentioned about how students waste too much time on trying to find the outfit and not focus on studying, but is school only a place for academics? Isn’t it also a place to teach us the way society works? Raising school tuition is ostensibly purposing on hiring more teachers, upgrading school facilities and providing higher-quality education, according to school administration. Yes, numerous parents argued for this unidirectional overbearing and failed, with vague and illogical answers of the school, but they are still willing to pay more since they believe THIS is definitely a site provides trustful education, teaches what children in modern society needs, and most importantly, students are satisfied with THIS, who are the cores of the school. But now, selling school uniforms are only seemed to be a profit-making of school, which doesn't even regard opinions of the students and countless parents, yet blindly listening to a few parents. Tuition raising is ridiculous enough for us to bear and to be fooled, but at least, as the educators and believed to be the models of young students, please follow the conscience, and think of what is the true identity of THIS: educational institute, or corporation - cannot be both at the same time.
Another point is that school is trying to follow the standards of renown international schools such as Harrow, Dulwich, etc., which all make students to wear uniforms daily. Dear administrators (or the ones who proposed such meaningless idea), do such seemingly prestigious images relate with any qualities of education in THIS? If you think so, and are able to give any acceptable reasoning, there should not be any resisting actions in THIS, but more or less signed consent forms of school uniform policy flying all over the hallway of THIS. We don't think that our school's educations are not sufficient but outrageous from all the international schools in Beijing, and we are proud that we are the members of THIS. But now, I am ashamed because of what the heads of the school are thinking of us, and how blind they are. Over immeasurable angst and anger, YOU are the ones shaming THIS, not our non-uniform clothing.

1. Like my peers have said, this policy directly contradicts our core value of “cultural diversity” by restricting our individuality. Our education system encourages us to have critical thinking skills and to lead in the global community, but how are we to do so when we can't even fully express ourselves in the hallways? But this policy doesn’t just undermine our freedom of expression and development of self-identities through clothing choices. This harms the school’s reputation as well, when the potential students and their families perceive THIS as a school that contradicts their own founding values.
2. Assuming that security is being used as the primary driver for this new rule, there are many other security loopholes that should be addressed first: the easily trespassed entrance between our campus and the Tsinghua university beside the cafeteria, the opening between our campus and the construction site, and more. A uniform won’t do much to solve these issues. Moreover, IF security is the primary reason for this rule, and assuming that the school’s admin thinks it will work, why are we only required to wear the uniform 4 out of 5 days? One day in every week will be "less-secured" than the others? Perhaps the school is using security as an excuse, instead of really helping the student body and promoting the school’s image.

We go to school about 180 days per year, half a year, if we wear them for about 4/5 of those days since we are only wearing them 4 days a week and 144 days is the about the total amount of days we wear the uniform during school. This means we will also be wasting our money on buying clothes we will wear less often due to this policy as well as buying uniforms. I personally don't even promote the dress code. Why the heck does it even exist? Anyone who thinks revealing their breasts or bosoms aren't right in the head anyway. Any sharp-minded person would know how much they think they need to cover up. Why should we wear clothes that stretch longer than the tips of our fingers? First, if you're afraid of people coming to our school and deeming the education as unfit because of what the students are wearing, then why would you even want them there? They obviously are not thinking things through, because the length of one's shorts shouldn't determine the state of a school's education. Why would you even want such a small minded person adulterating the school environment? Second, how the heck are short clothes "distracting"? I'm sorry, but any teacher who is "distracted" by short clothes are pedophiles and shouldn't be let near any of us. Also, if guys are excited by a girl's "revealing" clothing, you should teach the guy to NOT be excited instead of telling the girl to cover up. Telling the girl to cover up changes nothing in essence and makes the guy grow up to become a pervert, and this, THIS is where phrases like "she was asking for it" is rooted. Tell the pervert to shut up, whether he is a guy or a girl. THATS what education should be doing, instead of telling girls or guys who want to look awesome by wearing what they want to cover up. Third, as mentioned before, anyone in their right mind won't have their breasts or reproductive organs hanging out, so what's the big deal? The education system should be teaching kids from a young age to not deem skin as an invitation to be excited sexually, not telling kids to cover up so that people don't become excited.

Anyways, as someone who is already against the school's dress code system, I think the uniform is way too over the top. If we are in need a uniform to promote school spirit, then we have a big problem that has nothing to do with uniforms but more to do with the students of THIS's mindset, and from what I've seen throughout the years, there has never been a group of people who have been more enthusiastic about their school. So yeah.

Besides, cultural diversity is one of our core values, enforcing uniforms would be completely against our core values. Sure it might feel like a community if everyone dresses the same, but I don’t think we need to dress the same to feel like a community. All the students are full of Spartan Spirit, whether it’s cheering on their classmates at games or encouraging each other on field trips. We get to express our own styles in the clothing that we wear. It’s our freedom. If that freedom is taken away, then how would school be different from a company where everyone acts the same? Clothing
can display our emotions and show how we’re feeling.

If we dress the same, there will be no distinguishing difference between the students. Others could easily mistake you for someone else and vice versa. When we all dress differently, there is no mistaking who it actually is. Clothing shows the personality of the wearer.

Many of my friends go to Chinese schools and they all hate their uniforms. They are uncomfortable and not exactly pleasing to the eye. Lots of students go to international schools to escape the torture of wearing uniforms and experience some freedom to wear what they want.

The uniforms will eliminate Twin Day, because everyone would look alike. We would look so much the same it’s almost scary. Like robots almost. I’m strongly against wearing uniforms. If you want us to be more recognizable, we can just use our lunch card as an id. This is an American based school and not a single American based school in Beijing wears uniforms. I think what we have right now is great. With all due respect, uniforms are also our decision on weather or not we want to wear them. We have the rights to speak up in this. Its what we value in THIS, for everyone to be a part of our community. How could you guys just force something on us without asking? Where is the diversity then? This is an international school. INTERNATIONAL! Meaning we are students from all around the world learning things from all around the world. We are free right now and we get to wear what we want. This is one of the reasons that makes us different from the regular schools. Its what makes us UNIQUE and DIFFERENT. Its what shows that we will not put restrictions on children. Uniforms would just ruin everything. Its unnecessary. If the people in Fu Zhong are mad, fine, we will wear our ids on our neck but please do not make us wear uniforms. I do acknowledge that girls on average spend more time on clothes than guys. I now wake up 10 minutes earlier than I did in Middle school; but it is because I WANT TO. We will have to pay more for a set of ugly clothes that come in both winter and summer sets (and we'll probably each need at least 3 sets of each season because we can't wear the same ones for a whole week) that we will let rot in our closets after the school year. A huge waste of resources.
