She clearly told me she never had the intention to come to America and dream big. Her and my dad got married but my dad lived over here to work and provide for his family. When he met my mom he asked her to get married and come live with him. She never wanted to leave her family. Her “American Dream” wasn’t the dream she hoped for. She worked countless hours at taco bell before she became pregnant with my brother. She decided to stop working and my father continued being the main provider. My mom began to babysit kids that her friends would drop off since she was a stay at home mom. She didn’t have an American dream but she clearly stated that she got everything she ever wanted and more. She was very distraught about her not being able to see her family that she had to urge to get papers already in order to be reunited with them. She missed a lot of her sisters childhood that when she was able to see them again, she was all grown up. Every year after that, we began to go to Mexico at least once a year in order to see our family. My mom was the only child out of 9 that came to live in the United States and my dad was the only sibling as well to live a life “on the other side.” Many of the times, people and even our own family think we live the best life anyone could ever have because we live in america. Many of the times, people don’t have an idea of where to start in their American dream but he gives the possibility of the American dream to anyone who may try to succeed. He gives us an overviews of how to put perseverance forward into achieving our dreams. He also shows us that many of the times that parents American dream decline because they see their child dreams decreasing. We can see in this poem that he encourages to keep chasing our dreams and persevere. We shouldn't waste our time doing useless things when we have a whole journey ahead of us.
