During world war 2 the Japanese invaded Vietnam. To fight both the French and the Japanese political leader Ho Chi Minh inspired by Chinese and Soviet communism  formed the Viet Minh. after World War 2 the Japanese withdrew from Vietnam leaving Emperor Boa Da. Seizing the opportunity Ho’s viet Minh took control of Northern Vietnam. Trying to get the region back the French backed Emperor Boa set up a state of Vietnama. Both sided wanted to Unify Vietnam Ho wanted to model Vietnam under communist countries while Boa wanted to Model it after other camplist countries.

August 5, 1964 a torpedo is destroyed a US destroyer and the US retaliate by  attacking Military bases in North Vietnam.
