Lies and Deceit

Lies and deceit can be used to influence ignorant minds.

Examples:
Napoleon and Squealer constantly lies to the animals that Snowball is the cause of misfortunate events.
When the windmill broke down because of the harsh weather, Napoleon blamed this on Snowball without getting any specific evidence: "Do you know the enemy who has come in the night and overthrown our windmill? SNOWBALL!" (Orwell 70).

Power: Over the intellectually inferior

People who are intellectually inferior to others have a more difficult time making their own choices.

People who are intellectually inferior to others are more easily manipulated and are less likely to make choices based on their own judgement.

When the pigs made alterations to the original 7 Commandments, the animals questioned it but the pigs just disregarded it and the animals fell silent again.

During debates between Snowball and Napoleon, no animal could bring up another topic because they weren't clever enough. This meant they were only presented with two options and even then, whoever was speaking would win them over.

Those in power can become oppressive and will chose to manipulate the weak of mind for their own benefit.
