Things we learn dissapear fast in our brain, unless... we review the learned material. The speed of forgetting depends on diferent factors: the difficulty of the content, its representation, psychological factors (stress, sleep). How to train memory: mnemonic techniques and spaced repetition. Spending time each day to remember things (exam periods) decrease the effects of the forgeting curve.

The testing effect is the finding that long-term memory is often increased when some of the learning period is devoted to retrieving the to-be-remembered information.

The curve of oblivion illustrates the loss of retentiveness over time. ... The more intense a memory is, the longer it stays. A typical graph of the curve of forgetting shows that normally in a few days or weeks half of what we have learned is forgotten, unless we review it.
