The main character is Sofia Pineda Ochoa. She is the narrator throughout the whole documentary. Besides just being the narrator she describes some of her own personal experiences relating to the topic. She has a very worrisome outlook over the whole situation, which is to be expected. But she also feels humans can fix their mistakes. There are also many scientists/doctors/researchers who put their input about the topic. They are very similar to the narrator.

Impact of the Eco-Issue

One impact of the eco-issue is how plastic in the ocean will affect humans. Currently humans who eat seafood consume around 11,000 plastic particles per year. The future affect this will have on humans is currently unknown. Another impact of the eco-issue is how the current climate crisis is affecting animals. Due to rising temperatures, Arctic ice is melting and many animals are losing their habitat. One more impact of the eco-issue is how ocean acidification is affecting us. The major issue of this is how it is affecting phytoplankton because they provide more than 50% of our oxygen. These eco-issues mainly impact animals. It is affecting their habits and how they live.

How Methane if Affecting Climate Change

When water freezes in the winter(or freezes in general) methane becomes trapped in it. The reason methane becomes trapped in it is because when bacteria feed on decaying organic matter they expel methane gas. The methane becomes released when the spring comes and when the water melts the methane is released back into the atmosphere. This is an issue since methane has a way higher heat-trapping affect compared to carbon dioxide. This especially comes as an issue because lakes that are usually frozen are starting to melt due to rising temperatures. It then causes even more methane to be released into the atmosphere.

This documentary has one section, a short film, that is science fiction. It fits underneath this category because the short film goes through what life could be like in 2050. But we are not sure entirely if life will be like that, we have to wait and see.
