Today i have learnt about the different shots used in the media industry. such as long shots, close ups, medium close up and many more. i also learnt how to use these shots to their maximum effectiveness. also in today's lesson i learnt how to set up a DSLR camera and learnt how to change its setting and what changing these settings can do to the camera. lastly i learnt about the different types of equipment used in the media industry whilst also learning different filming methods. i learnt that there are many different pieces of equipment which help to create different shots. one particular piece of equipment i learnt about was a dolly, this can be used for a few different types of shots however the most common one would be a pan shot. where the camera moves from one side, past the subject/target, to the other side.

what did i do today?

Today, i have produced mind map, involving all of the details regarding all aspects of recording a video about the different types of shots. for example we included details such as the audio aspects of the video, video, screen cast, images and webpages containing information. we also did 2 short workshops, one being a photoshop workshop explaining to us the basics of editing so we have a rough idea of what we're doing when we start editing our podcast. the other was a short presentation on types of shots (photography) which included 2 videos which gave us a brief overview on the basics of shots and how they can be used to produce a short film. in each small clip they showed in the video about shots, gave us some examples on how these shots are commonly used within the film industry, making it easier for people to understand. we used the mind maps which we created to progress our ideas further. we done this by looking at the ideas which we expanded upon on our mind maps. the best ideas of mine will be put together to produce my final product.

What did I do today?

Today we began to start planning and expanding upon our pre production tasks and we also finalised our mood parts. We learnt how to how to write and lout out a written proposal. We also learnt how to layout a contingency plan and how fill out an equipment booking Page. Another thing that we learnt how to fill out a location planning sheet and a production schedule. From identifying our ore production documents we Lerner how important pre production planning is to shaping the final product.whislt using blend space we encountered an issue regarding the website. The first issue was that we couldn't access Dropbox from blendspace making it harder to import files, next time we could find an alternate way of importing files.

what did we do today?

during todays session we touched up on our blend spaces, which contained all of the work which we have produced so far this term in unit 1. we mainly focused on importing all of our work to blend-space so that it can be formally assessed. also in todays session we learnt the basics of operating/running a film set in the media industry. we mainly focused on the different roles that are needed for and tv show to operate. the main roles we learnt about and conducted in todays session were set directors and camera operators. we took on these roles so that we could get a better understanding of how these roles work and the style of work they would be given. by learning first hand how these operated we got a much better understanding of their roles than we would through online research. lastly we learnt a bit about some of the apparatus used in a tv set. on the set which we practisced on we used the equipment that follows; studio lights, a green screen , cameras and a monitor which displayed how the public would see the set. In the film/TV industry, a green screen is used to create a virtual set. this is so that you would not have to worry about producing a proper set. this saves companies money in most cases, its easier to set up and you do not have to worry about the set taking damage or being worn over time. the reason that the green screen is green, is because it is the furthest colour from skin colour, so that there is no clashes.

inserted below are some pictures that i took during my time in the film studio-
