All of the people in the empire would be able to communicate with each other. According to the article "Alexander the Great," "Every nation he conquered was forced, at pain of death, to learn about the Greek culture and to speak Greek." This shows that whenever Alexander would conquer country, it would become more united with the empire. If there was no national language, there is a larger chance that the empire will break because those that have the same language will cluster together. When they cluster, they will fight against their ruler for power, thus bringing down the empire.

Being required to learn an official language could possible raise the income of an immigrant by a huge margin. In fact, immigrants who are fluent in English in America earn about 55% more than American-born employees." This means that they have to learn a whole new language.

Having a single national language would benefit people because the challenge kids have in learning is language. Many tests and worksheets are given out using one language which makes it easier. Additionally, it would beneficial for education because people wouldn't have to translate the quizzes just for the students to know what it is saying. According to the article, " Benefits of an Official Language, " it says, "If you really want to succeed in your studies, then you ought to place more emphasis on language. In addition, most exams are tested using the official language."Therefore, a lot of emphasis is put into kids learning their language.

One disadvantage to having one national language is that it is harder to have contact with other places. Trading would be difficult. For example, if another country had a brilliant new resource, it would be challenging to trade with them because of the language boundary. Another way is that there would be less opportunities for jobs. The article "Why is it Important to Maintain the Native Language" states, "Better employment opportunities in this country and overseas are available for individuals who are fluent in English and another language." This shows that contact with other places is troublesome if having only one language.

Learning the same language can save a lot of money. According to the article, "Alexander the Great", the Greeks believed that Alexander wanted to conquer a lot of states so that there will not be taking away money just for learning a different language and to translate it. This shows that it costs more if you translate a document from its national language to your language. The reason why it costs more is because it would take forever to remember a language and buying a lot of translation services are really expensive, although it makes translating papers shorter. This is one reason why we should only have 1 national language in the state.

The only way that people are distinguished differently is the different languages and through the outfits that people wear. According to one of the article, it talked about different types of cultures and how it would be lost if we all talked the same way. This shows that having the same languages wouldn't neccesary be beneficial.

One disadvantage is that the minor languages that people speak can die out with the new languages that are coming into the areas. According to, "An introduction of a global language might lead to discrimination of other languages. Losing a language equals losing identity. The language is much more than just a tool for communication." This means that the fact of losing a language that only a couple thousand people speak makes a big difference in the world.
