"When the time is right, I the Lord will make it happen"

Given my experiences with financial struggles and family challenges, the phrase "When the time is right, the Lord will make it happen" resonates deeply with me. It's a reminder to trust in a higher plan, stay patient, and focus on what I can control. As I work towards lifting my family out of poverty and achieving financial stability, this mindset helps me navigate uncertainties and stay hopeful. By trusting in divine timing, I'm learning to let go of worries about the future or past, and instead, focus on the present moment, taking consistent action towards my goals while trusting that everything will unfold as it should.

"Slow progress is still progress"

Means that even if things aren't moving quickly, you're still moving forward. It's about acknowledging and appreciating the small steps you take towards your goals.

In my life, this phrase relates to my goals of lifting my family out of poverty and achieving financial stability. It reminds me that every small step counts, whether it's saving a little money, learning new skills, or taking on a new opportunity. Even if progress is slow, it's still progress, and that gives me hope and motivation to keep moving forward. By focusing on the progress I've made, rather than the distance still to go, I can stay positive and encouraged, even when faced with challenges.

What are some fun facts about myself that others may not know?

I'm a fascinating blend of contradictions, and one of the most interesting things about me is that I'm an ambivert. Depending on the situation and the people I'm with, I can seamlessly shift between being outgoing and reserved. While I thrive in social settings that feel meaningful and authentic, I also cherish my alone time, using it to recharge and reflect. However, there's one place you won't catch me often: crowded areas. The noise, chaos, and overwhelming energy tend to drain me, and I much prefer more low-key environments where I can connect with people on a deeper level.

One thing I've learned about myself is that being alone doesn't necessarily mean feeling lonely. I love spending time with myself, whether it's reading, writing, or simply enjoying a quiet moment. There's a beauty in solitude that I find incredibly grounding. Of course, like anyone, I have my flaws, and one area I'm working on is managing jealousy. It's a complex emotion that can be challenging to navigate, but being aware of it is the first step to growth.

I'm one of those people with a peculiar obsession – sunsets. There's something about the way the sky transforms into a kaleidoscope of colors, with hues of orange, pink, and purple, that fills me with peace and serenity. It's a moment of stillness, a time to reflect on the day's events, and a reminder of the beauty that surrounds us. It's not necessarily a fun fact, but it's a part of who I am, and I find myself drawn to it time and time again. What's even more ironic is that despite having zero tolerance for annoying people, who drain my energy and test my patience, I've been known to exhibit some annoying traits myself – a humorous contradiction that I'm still working on balancing out.

Physically, I might appear a bit laid-back or cool to some, but beneath the surface, I'm sensitive. And one thing that truly breaks my heart is when someone shouts at me or raises their voice – it makes my eyes teary and my heart feel shattered. The loudness cuts deep, and it's something I'm working on being more resilient to, but it's a vulnerability that's hard to shake off.

These aspects of my personality might seem contradictory, but they make me who I am. I'm constantly learning to balance my need for social interaction with my need for solitude, and I'm working on becoming a more empathetic and understanding person. Embracing these complexities allows me to grow and connect with others in meaningful ways.

Life has presented me with numerous challenges, but two have been particularly significant: financial struggles and the complexities of growing up in a broken family. Financial instability has been a constant companion, with my grandparents' farm income often falling short of meeting our needs. As I pursued higher education, the financial strain intensified, forcing me to juggle studies with financial responsibilities. Despite these hurdles, I've refused to let financial constraints define my limits. Instead, they've driven me to work harder, seek opportunities, and believe in my ability to create a better future.

Growing up in a broken family has also had its share of challenges. The absence of a traditional family structure and the emotional toll it takes can be profound. I've had to navigate feelings of abandonment, insecurity, and uncertainty, often finding myself shouldering responsibilities beyond my years. However, this journey has also taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of self-advocacy. I've learned to lean on my strengths, seek support when needed, and focus on building a life that reflects my values and aspirations. These experiences, though difficult, have shaped me into a stronger, more empathetic person, and I'm committed to turning these challenges into stepping stones for success.

Entering college is undoubtedly one of my proudest accomplishments, a milestone that represents the culmination of hard work, determination, and resilience. Growing up, my life was marked by financial instability, largely due to my grandparents' limited income from their farm. Despite their unwavering support and love, the reality of our financial situation often weighed heavily on me. However, I was driven by a deep-seated desire to create a better future for myself and my family. Pursuing higher education wasn't just about personal growth; it was about breaking the cycle of financial hardship and opening doors to new opportunities. Overcoming the obstacles that came with being from a low-income background and balancing my studies with other responsibilities has been challenging, but the sense of pride and accomplishment I feel now is immeasurable. This achievement isn't just about me; it's a testament to the sacrifices of my grandparents and the unwavering belief they had in me. Entering college has been a transformative experience, one that has shaped my perspective, broadened my horizons, and given me the tools to pursue my dreams with confidence.

My hobbies and interests revolve around creative expression and self-reflection. I'm an avid reader, having developed a passion for stories at the age of 13 with pocket novels. Over time, my love for reading evolved, and I became hooked on Wattpad, finding solace in the diverse stories and perspectives shared on the platform. Reading helps me escape reality, relax, and unwind, especially when I'm feeling bored or overwhelmed.

Aside from reading, I'm also a poetry enthusiast. I find comfort in writing poems, often as a means to process my emotions, whether I'm feeling hurt, happy, or reflective. Writing has become a therapeutic outlet for me, allowing me to convey thoughts and feelings that I might struggle to verbalize. I've composed over 20 poems, each one a reflection of my experiences, emotions, and growth. When I need to express myself but don't have someone to talk to, writing becomes my trusted companion, helping me clarify my thoughts and emotions.

My educational journey began in Barangay Cabagdalan, where I attended daycare and developed a reputation for being talkative, energetic, and creative. I was a budding singer and dancer, and one memorable moment was when I corrected my teacher during a discussion – a trait that showcased my confidence and curiosity.

In elementary school, I studied at Cabagdalan Elementary School, where I accumulated a treasure trove of memories. To earn extra pocket money, I learned to sail rubber and "apir" (a local term), which allowed me to buy donuts for just 2 pesos. My lola gave me a daily allowance of 5 pesos, and I was careful to budget it for snacks since I already had rice for lunch.

During my elementary years, I also participated in my first pageant, despite initial reluctance. My lola encouraged me to join, and I didn't want to disappoint her. Another notable incident was when a classmate called me "tomboy," which sparked anger and defensiveness. Unbeknownst to me at the time, this incident might have been related to my eventual self-discovery as a lesbian.

As I transitioned to high school, I attended Cabagdalan National High School from Grade 7 to Grade 11, where I was immersed in the Humanities and Social Sciences strand. This period was pivotal, filled with memories and self-discovery. It was during these years that I realized my attraction to women, experiencing my first romantic feelings in a way that surprised and shaped me. After completing Grade 11, I shifted to Nangka National High School in Balamban to continue my senior high school journey. This change was driven by necessity; my grandparents were facing challenges in supporting my education, so I took on the role of a working student under one of my former teachers. Balancing work and studies was demanding, but it allowed me to pursue my education and eventually graduate from senior high school.

Hello world, hello love, this is Mary Jesalyn Literado, but to those who know me, I'm Allister - a name inspired by the stories I read. I'm the eldest of five, and my journey began with the harsh reality of a broken family. My mother and father parted ways when I was just a year old; my papa left me to live with his parents so he could work and support my needs.

As I grew older, the pain only deepened. At the age of five, my mother started a new family, and by the time I turned eight, my father had done the same. I was left living with my grandparents, feeling lost and uncertain about where I belonged. My mother had her new family, and my father had his, leaving me feeling like a puzzle piece that didn't fit anywhere. I wasn't close to my mom; I didn't even know her face, only her name. I had been close to my father, but his new family changed everything, and the hurt it brought still lingers.

Despite these early challenges, I've grown into a compassionate and caring individual, often finding myself prioritizing the needs and feelings of others before my own. As I navigated life, I discovered my truth as a lesbian, embracing my identity with courage and resilience. While I cherish moments of solitude, it's not out of loneliness but rather a reflection of the emotional scars I've accumulated. These experiences have taught me to tread carefully, often considering others' emotions before my own, in the hope of shielding them from the pain I've endured.
