In that time East End was known for being one of the most dangerous and poor places in London, so it wouldn't be much of a shocker for murders to occur there. Jack the Ripper was done killing off the women in Whitechapel, this was a relief for all, but after his killing spree Jack the Ripper rose to fame for being and evil murderer. Especially after the death of 5 women you would expect the one responsible for this would be caught and forgotten, but Ripper wasn't caught and he was very famous for his murdering. There were loads of books, films/movies, TV series, and even tours of where the murders occurred. In one of his murders Jack was careless enough to leave some of his hand/finger prints on one of his victim's, shawl(Catherine Eddowes).
