i think the main cause of the Great Depression was the crash of Stock Martket of 1929. many companies were producing lots of products but no one was buying them so the prices went down and i think that was the main cause of the Great depression-. Many people assumed the martket would go back to it's nortmal state

I think the main cause of the Great Depression was the stock market crash of 1929. I believe this incident caused this because of the overall loss and country's economic outbreak during that time. The time felt so great that people invested more than they had and overall everyone ended up losing lots of money making each person in debt, needing money for food and living and the country in debt. This captivated the end of the "great" times and started the Great depression with all the overall losses and suffering of many people in Canada at that time.

I think the main cause was Buying on Credit. I think that was the main reason because when people where buying on credit they would go in dept because they could not afford what they wanted to buy like cars, homes, stocks, and products like food and water. I also think this was the main cause because when people were asked to pay the bank back they would not be able to pay it back so the bank would start losing money and the bank would lose money from that.

I believe that the main cause of the Great Depression was Black Tuesday. It caused everyone who had invested into the stock market to love all of the money they had invested. In just a few weeks Canadians lost over 30 billion dollars. The country lost more money in 2 months than in the entirety of WW1. People had to money to spend on anything and there were shortages. With companies shares being so low, companies would have struggled to stay open and keep operating at the same level. With everyone being broke from losing their money to the stock market people couldn't pay back what was on credit. People got laid off as companies couldn't afford to stay open and pay their workers.

I think the main cause was the stock market crash. Since the great depression was a period of struggling economy with not enough money, and that in the crash the most money was lost, it makes sense for the stock market crash to be the main cause of the great depression.

i think the main cause of the great depression was buying on credit and overproduction. i think this because as companies/stores gave the option to buy on credit, people flocked to stores which created an artificial spending spree. moreover, the artificial spending spree led companies to believe that customers would eventually pay the items back and make a profit. this notion prompted companies to rapidly expand and make a surplus of goods based on the belief that there was a endless demand of products that people could pay for.

People had been riding on the roars of the 20s for a while now. With the excitement of investing and the common mindset of "buy now, pay later", Black Tuesday was going to happen sooner or later. This is what I think the main cause of the Great Depression was. People lost nearly everything they had from it, and what little they had was sold to bounce back from debt. The economy suffered enormously ($30 billion lost) from this day forward, and it would take more than just a couple years to recover.

I think the main cause of the Great Depression was buying on credit. People spent more money than they had, believing they could pay it back, and when they could not, it affected the economy. People had the mentality of "buy now, pay later" which caused them to spend using credit. When they had to pay the money back, there was nothing left.

i think the main cause of the great depression was that people were spending too much. Since everybody's spending like no tomorrow companies and farmers started making surplus items. Buying on credit puts lots of people in debt purchasing items they cannot afford. To add to the spending everybody was buying stocks and putting all their savings into it thinking they would make a surplus. When the stock market crashed nobody had any more money for anything. So items were left to dust, people couldn't pay back the credit they owed, and all the money they put into stocks plummeted. This collapse in society is what I think started the great depression.

I think the main cause of the great depression was stock market crash because although their were other contributors the main reason was the stock market crash. the other factors like dust ruining crops, trading stalemates due to tariffs, over production all helped make the great depression as bad as it was but if you were to remove just one it wouldn't make a big difference but if the stock market never crashed their may have never of been a depression
