Anyone who had the privilege of knowing or working with Georgia was so very fortunate. She was one of the most caring, kind, and thoughtful people you'd ever want to meet. Her deep commitment to her students, whom she loved and cared for unconditionally was something to emulate. She always went above and beyond with the families of her students. With her colleagues, she was fun loving, willing to share her ideas, and she put on some great events.

Above all Georgia was a devoted daughter to her parents and loved her family.

I will miss our talks.

When our hearts are empty, filling them with happy memories can help.

Alison Bell
Fellow Resource Room Teacher from the Winter Hill

A selfless woman

I didn't have too many chances to speak to Ms. Arvanitis. Ms. Arvanitis was a very selfless and dedicated woman and I do and always will have the upmost respect for her. Ms. Arvanitis was a special education teacher at my school. Dedicated special education teachers such as Ms. Arvanitis have a special place in my heart. The last thing Ms. Arvanitis said to me was on April 23rd after I'd submitted a story I wrote for science. She said, "Your use of imagery is incredible. Your descriptive words—amazing." Those words mean more to me now than ever and I will always remember Ms. Arvanitis' light and kindness.

Rest in peace
Natalia Mohamed
Healey Student

I worked with Georgia at the Healey. I am so grateful for the honor of working with Georgia, even if only for a year. She embodied what it means to be someone who devotes her life in service of others. In her year at the Healey, she formed deep relationships with students and colleagues alike. I was so at ease coming into her office and chatting with her both about our shared students and non-student matters -- like her famous cookies! (For that matter, she supported students academically but also always made sure they were fed!) She was a wonderful teammate. I so admire her humility, patience, and sense of humor about teaching and life. In both "real life" and online teaching, Georgia was so dedicated. At the end of the school year, I got a text from her with some student work. I discovered that she had stayed online with the student for an hour after I left, but the focus of the text was how she was proud of him because he wanted to make his project perfect. That was the thing about Georgia -- she never asked for recognition, but would do anything for the kids. One of the last times I talked to Georgia was working with a group of students with her on a project virtually. Although getting the students to engage sometimes felt like pulling teeth, all of us involved with the project ended up having a lot of fun and a lot of laughs, especially when a student decided that a picture of Mark Wahlberg should be added to our slides :) I will miss her so much!
