The seasons occur by the tilt of the Earths Axis. When it's summer it means that we are the closest to the sun and when it's winter it means we are the farthest away from the sun. The Earth's tilt is at a 23.5 degree angle which gives every part of the world a season at the same time. If it is summer in one part of the world the opposite side is winter and if one part of the world is spring then the opposite side is fall.

Sometimes North America is directly facing the Sun (Summer) and sometimes North America is directly facing away from the Sun (Winter). The DAY and NIGHT cycle occurs every 24 hours when the Earth has fully rotated once. The SEASON'S occurs every 365 days when the Earth has made one full orbit around the Sun.
