Have you ever heard anyone say ‘I didn’t know what I wanted to do for a career when I was young, and look at me now, I did okay.’ This is so true for so many people around the World today…. You are in a privileged position as you have access to so many free resources to help you decide the best profession for you.

* Career Quiz 
Take a few minutes to complete a quiz, at the end it will reveal some well suited career options for you based on the personality questions you have answered. It’s a revelation! 

* Virtual Careers Events 
Since the pandemic, employers have become so much more accessible through online virtual events, such as Careers Fairs, work experience, hosting seminars on business, well being and cultural related topics. 

* Labour Market Information 
I do think this title is a little (yawn) boring, I probably shouldn’t say that. Knowledge is power though!! The most recent Berkshire Labour Market Information will tell you the most employed skills in our area and also an idea of how much salaries for different jobs pay. It might stop you being a Surf instructor on a salary that can’t pay the house bills in landlocked area with no sea. It could open your eyes to a Computer Programmer job down the road on a salary where you can afford all your bills and a couple of exotic holidays each year. Perhaps a beauticians salary won’t pay all the bills, but the owner of an aesthetics salon would pay the bills. It is important you find a career that will give you the income you need. 

Let me be very, very clear….. If you spend your screen time on TikTok, GTA, Fortnite, etc. then it demonstrates to you how much time you have available for yourself. By internet surfing careers, future employers, higher education providers then this is for YOU. You being kind (to yourself), you being responsible, you aiming high. 

I can tell you that if you don’t PLAN your life then life will just happen and it might not be the best it could have been!! 

By spending time Career surfing online you will get an idea of what you don’t want to do also. I always say if you know what you don’t want, then you are one step closer to finding what is right for you. 

Be honest with yourself…….. 
Don’t be a beautician if you’re not prepared to wax all parts of your customers body! 
If you like crime series on TV and think you’d like to study Criminology then you need to be confident you could walk into a ‘bloody’ crime scene one day. 
A Nurse or Doctor can’t be squeamish of body fluids or taking blood from a difficult vein. 
So many people sign up for hairdressing then realise they aren’t practical (with scissors) or don’t have the imagination for a restyle! 


YOU NEED TO COME BACK TO SCHOOL IN SEPTEMBER WITH AN IDEA OF THE CAREER YOU WOULD LIKE TO GO INTO.

Remember have a A, B and C plan - so no matter what your GCSE results you have a course or Apprenticeship application for any grades received.
