Why is teaching important?

When it comes to teaching you are basically the students first line of impressions. Many students spend 7-8 hours a day with teachers thus taking in many impressions, and ideas from them. When being a teacher you inspire and educate generations different from yourself, so you have to be careful what you put in their heads. Teaching means to be selfless and be able to share compassion with students that might be different from your own background. Teaching is important to me because I want to be a different face from my students. I´m a young Afro-Latina and I would love to make my students feel comfortable in the space they´re in. I love to also connect with students who might come into school with English as their second language and show them anything is possible.
