- Famous author of the books "Narrative of the Life of Fredrick Douglass: An American Slave" and "My Bondage, My Freedom."
- Fredrick Douglass wrote many books to try and persuade many slave owners to realize the struggles and attitude they got from the slave owners. Basically, Douglass Was trying to knock some sense into these slaves owners with peculiar words  and  extensive vocabulary.
- He also recruited soldiers for the union army in the civil war.
- He also supported women's rights and suffrage.

- She went to Canada instead of the north since there was a fugitive law in the north --> Any Slave caught in the north would be captured and returned to the south again and would be punished--> most likely a whip to the back or if Harriet Tubman would have been captured, she would have been hung to death.
- Harriet Tubman also served in the civil war as a nurse and Civil War scout.
- Harriet Tubman's real name is Araminta Ross.

- Issued Emancipation Proclamation January 1, 1863, freeing slaves in Confederate states. 
- Lincoln sponsored the Thirteenth Amendment
- He ended slavery in January 1, 1865
- He liberated more than 4 million slaves from bondage

- He would provide the fugitives with food, water, and in the text, Collection 3: "Harriet Tubman: Conductor of the Underground Railroad" it says, " Finally, they reached Thomas Garrett's house in Wilmington Delaware. Just as Harriet had promised, Garret gave them all new shoes, and provided carriages to take them on to the next stop." --> As you can see from the quote, Garret gave a lot to Harriet during her way to freedom. He gave them shoes and carriages, according to the text.
