Prince Henrik and Queen Magrethe met in 1965. The meeting didn't make a special impression on Magrethe. However, a year later at a wedding it did. Henrik managed to charm his way in, at this weeding with mutual friends. Already in 1966, in September to be accurate, came the news out. Queen Magrethe was engaged with the French man, who she met at a wedding, Henrik Marie Jean André, or just Prince Henrik. Eight months later got the Danish queen and Henrik married with each other. The ceremony was kept in Holmen's Church in Copenhagen. The newlywed drove to Amalienborg, which is a castle placed in Copenhagen with view over a canal and The Danish Opera, where they got congratulated by several thousands of people. The picture below shows this exact moment. After this congratulation confirmed forty-four cannon shots the marriage.

The celebration was kept at Fredensborg Castle, where four-hundred people were invited. Henrik hold a speech at this feast, where his final line was: "I know it's an honor, Dannebrog to wear". (It rimes in Danish).

Prince Henrik was born 11 of June 1934. This day wouldn’t be something special, if it wasn’t for the matter of fact, that he is prince consort of Denmark. We raise our flag on his birthday, because of his title in the Danish society. You see it is quite normal for many Danish people to be royalist, though a lot of young-aged people doesn’t know or care about The Royal Family. However, if you go for a walk, on this particular day, you will see flags which are raised at lots of places.

The journey of life started in 1934 for Henrik. He was born as count Henri Marie Jean André de Laborde de Monpezat, a pretty long name, which also makes it clear for us, that he was born in an upper class family in France. His parents is Count André de Laborde de Monpezat and Countess Renée de Monpezat (born Doursennot). Henrik is the oldest son.

As a young man, Henrik made himself a great start of life. He was somewhat of an educated man, already in a early stage of his life. In a young age got Henrik confidential with social science, oriental tongue, gastronomy, art and music. He spent the most of his childhood in Vietnam, which at that time was a French colony. The Frenchmen's called it 'French - I'Indochine. The reason was, that his father handled some familiar business in the country.
Back in France became Henrik a student at Cahor gymnasium at 1950. He further studied political science by Sorbonne in Paris. He also studied Chinese and Vietnamese at Ecolé Nationale des Langues Orientales. Later has he also studiet orientale tongue in Hong Kong and Saigon.

He got the job in the Foreign ministry in France in the Asia department, after his compulsory military service. He got a new job in London, just a year after. He worked at this job, as an embassy secretary, in the years 1963-1967, were he at an age of 30 had a promising further.

However, Henrik fell in love, and not just with misses anybody, but with the Danish heir to the throne. The diplomat Henrik then said goodbye to his future promotions at the embassy, and hello to the life as prince of Denmark.

This got to be somewhat of a radical change, in Henrik's life. You should think, that it should be enough for him, to hear that his wife had married a man under her standards. However, it came to be worse. Henrik never managed to get the Danish society, to confirm him as a King. It might be caused by the fact, that Henrik had a hard time learning the Danish dialect. But how can we blame him, for having it hard to learn the Danish culture, when it is so colorful, as it is.

Prince Henrik have been protector for several humanitarian organizations. Since 1972 have Henrik been president for WWF in Denmark. Henrik got the price of "European of the year" in 2011, for his long-running work in the European preservation-organization 'Europa-Nostra'. Furthermore has Henrik published several poems and books. He is somewhat of a colorful man. It's kind of sad though, cause he never managed to win the hearts of the Danish people completely.

I had to learn so much; the geography and history of the land, its common practice - and my own role. I overlooked the significant of the language. I know today, that I wont ever manage speak fluent Danish. It annoys me. Im willing to admit that."

Prince Henry in the media Henrik has through his life in Denmark managed to bring Danes new inspiration, whatever in poetry or French cooking. But there is also another side of Prince Henry. The little fun and crazy prince Henrik had four of his eight grandchildren with the Copenhagen Zoo. And the fun fresh grandfather he is. Did he cut fun and interesting faces, so the waiting time is more fun for the grandkids. He help open Tivoli in Copenhagen rollercoaster. It was now more the fun side of Prince Henry, we saw that day when his stuck up in the rollercoaster and he shout out to the crowd, if he could get a cup of coffee, to create a good mood although he were caught in the rollercoaster.
