It wasn't my mother, she was asleep in the bed across the room, so it was robbers, thieves, and murders, creeping slowly...slowly...slowly toward my bed.'' In addition to that is says " the robbers and thieves filled the warm darkness and slipped across the floor more quietly than cats rigid under the covers" so this means that she was scared because they were so quiet so she went under the covers. This shows that she was thinking about the robbers, thieves, and murders all night, because she says "not knowing when I would fall asleep again." paragraphs 9 showed how she was scared. It stated “I started into the shifting dark and bit my knuckles” this showed how she was scared and how she felt unsafe because she felt very scared in paragraph 9.

In paragraph 8. In addition to the text it stated that “ I woke up at night and heard footsteps slowly creeping up the stairs''. Which showed she was scared and unsafe in many ways.

In the paragraph in addition it both showed what she had meant by robbers, thieves, and murders.

In addition it said “I bite my knuckles not knowing when I will sleep”. Which shown she was very scared.

lastly this is why June is scared.

But when she wasn't with her at night she might've felt unsafe, in the text it states, "I stuffed my hand into my mouth, if I screamed and woke her, she'd be tired at work tomorrow." This text shows how she wanted to scream.
