" I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practise resignation, unless it was quite necessary" (paragraph 9). This quote stood out to me because he explains that he didn't like living life if it wasn't actually "life," which connects back to the idea of transcendentalism because in order to actually live life, people must value nature.

"To regard man as an inhabitant, or a part and parcel of Nature, rather than a member of society." (paragraph 2). I chose this quote because it brings humans back to their original conditions, which connects back to transcendentalism because human originally used to live in nature, rather than modern day cities within societies.

"The rays that come from those heavenly worlds, will separate between him and what he touches" (paragraph 1). This quote stood out to me because it reminded of the main subject/tenet of transcendentalism which is to connect with the divine, this quote does this by mentioning man and how he connects with the "heavenly worlds" through the rays coming from the stars.

The Dead Poets' Society was a movie that had a great theme of "carpe diem." Throughout the whole movie, it showed the characters attempting to seize the day. This ranges from Charlie expressing his love to Chris and all the way to Neil preforming in the play. The movie also showed that there are consequences to attempting to seize the day, one example was Mr. Keatings getting fired from this job. Another example is Neil getting yelled at by his dad and being told that he was moving to a boarding school.
