The Native Americans Played a Big Role in the Revolutionary war. Most of Native Americans side with the British or the crown to be more specific one of those tribes was Mohawk which came up a lot in the 7 Year war on the british side and in the King Philip's War. The reason that most Native Americans were on the crown side was because they were trying to separate them which upset the Colonists because they wanted to expand west. The Native Americans were happy because they got to keep their land. After the war the tensions just rose more between the Native Americans and the colonists.

Two well known tribes that Joined the colonist were Oneida and Tuscarora also most tried to stay Neutral

Geroge Washigton earned the title “Town Destroyer” From The Native Americans Because he would Burn their village to stop them from reading and killing.

The Reason you have to see This perspective is because they played a very big role during and even after the war.

Tens of thousands of African Americans clung to the sentimental notion of a British freedom even when they knew the English were far from being saints in respect to slavery. Enslaved Africans served as soldiers in both Continental army and the British forces. They served most commonly as gunners, which were usually first to be injured or killed. Most Africans were forced to go to war but with promises to be free once over.

Perspective: Because people can see the changes with African Americans and the military from back them to now.

Facts:

-white American prisoners were also enslaved and forced to serve in the war

-thousands of enslaved Africans won there freedom by serving on both sides of the war.

Women during the revolutionary war during this time typically followed there husbands to war. These women were known as camp followers. They would wash, cook and mend clothes. When these women would follow there husbands to these camps they would get severely hurt or injured. Not only did the continental army's wife's follow but the general officers wife's would follow along. Not only were men effected by this war but the women were affected just as much. Almost everything a women did resorted back to the war going on.

Perspective: They helped out a lot with the military and would make things for them.

2 Facts:

1.Philis wheatley was a enslaved African American living in Boston and she was one of the first published female authors of America.

2.Betsy ross created the first American flag and made the flag official in 1777.

During the Revolutionary War, children played an important role in the success of the soldiers. Children played crucial roles and many were child soldiers. A large number of children played instruments including drummers to communicate with the fighting men called military musicians. Creating a heavy weight on the children during the Revolutionary War.

Some children filled the ranks of spies, messengers/couriers, Indian patrol, and sailors.

In the days of the Revolutionary War boys were considered to be adults at the age of 10.

I think it’s important to look at history through this perspective because it’s important to recognize all the sacrifices children made and see how their roles contributed to history. It also shows how differently children lived due to harsher circumstances and different laws. Wich creates a deeper appreciation compared to the carefree life children have now.

Children played a critical role in the Revolutionary War as support for their troops. They had many jobs including spies, runners, cannon crews, soldiers, sailors, guards, and most prevalent military musicians. They were used as rank fillers and some who survived would go into careers in the military. As military musicians, their role was to play songs that told the troops how to move, they were often targeted and killed to break troop cohesion due to their lack of protection and position in front of soldiers. They were also part of matross crews that were support for cannon crews, they would load, clean, and tend to the cannon and its crew to help continue fire. Their perspective and life give a great insight into how important this revolution was to America, so much so that even kids as small as 10 years old would go and fight for freedom. It is a testament to the colonial fervor for fair and equal representation in the face of a tyrannical government.

Constantine - Teens

SUMMARY: This is a recount of a teenager in the war.

In the reading, it says Botto, fourteen at the time, visited Amsterdam notary Cornelis van Homrigh to officially record what he had witnessed aboard the South Carolina (ship) and ashore in the United States. To "find fortune elsewhere", the Aeneae family decided to send their (12 year old) son aboard a ship soon to be deployed in an active war. Eventually, the South Carolina docked in Philadelphia, as soon as the ship exited Delaware Bay it was immediately sighted, chased, and fired at by the British. here was no regard at all for “his fragile youth", He was deprived of food and clothes, and subjected to “inhumane” physical, verbal, and psychological abuse. Botto and those still surviving aboard the Jersey (British repurposed prison ship) were saved by negotiations for the Treaty of Paris which caused the release of prisoners of war.

2 INTERESTING THINGS:

For about half a year, the South Carolina roamed the West Indies, taking prizes here and there, culminating in aiding the Spanish capture of the Bahamas in May 1782.

The name Jersey (or Old Jersey) would have instilled fear and despair in many American servicemen of the late eighteenth century. Jersey, was a 1736 Royal Navy vessel, converted into a prison ship in 1779, and resided in Wallabout Bay, New York.

I think it is important to look at history through this perspective because it shows that people at very young ages were making extremely dangerous journeys through life, and that no one regards young people any different than other prisoner's of war. This way of looking at history was interesting because Botto was so excited to leave his home, but he had to endure a dangerous journey on the water.

During the revolutionary way, the German immigrant population was over 1/3 of the population. There was over 55,000 protestant Irish people that immigrated to America between 1763 -1665. The German language was widely spoken in major colonial cities, the diversity helped with the social cohesion between people in America. The German publishers authors and papers were known as one of the most successful in printing. They're main subjects were the mistreatments people in the colony had to go through because of the English. American resistance from Britain was widely talked about between German and Irish immigrants. Germans successful publishing influenced volunteer militia groups and the idea of resistance stared to grow in Ireland. This perspective was important because this is essentially what triggers the idea of revolting from the mistreatment from the English.

During the Revolutionary War, Smallpox was the biggest disease that was feared from everyone. In the beginning smallpox killed 100,000 of Washingtons soldiers. He say that The Smallpox was getting out of hand and told his wife to go into inoculation, his wife and his family stayed in that for 3 weeks. Unfortunatly, incoluation didn't work for the soldiers...

Washingston had a belief that the British spread smallpox to his soldiers on purpose. After he ordered all his troops to go into inoculation just to see if it really wasn't working, he noticed that 3-4,000 of his troops slipped under his grasp and didn't do it. Washington was a major benifit, and was one of his most important decisons during the war. He was also a Key in early American Public Health Endeavors.

WOW:

1) Why would some of the troops not want to be getting their 3 week immunitization of the smallpox?

2) It's cool that Washington was a key player in early American public health

Perspective:

I think its important to look at history through this perspective because it shows how big of an impact smallpox had on the troops. Also because it had a big role on medical developent.

-Marissa

During the Revolutionary War more people had fallen due to disease than bullets or harm from the other enemy. But due to George Washington's urgency with inoculation (vaccination), we were able to take the first steps in making nationwide vaccinations.

interesting facts

George Washington was a part of the reason for the first successful American Public Health Initiative

The practice of "smoking" letters to help prevent disease from spreading when sending letters from infected to non-infected

I think it's important to look at history from this perspective because it is important too see how diseases were transmitted back then and the measures that were slowly taken to prevent them.
