ECA.

Yesterday was so great. I think I spent most of it sleeping on the bus honestly. We had a tour in Melaka and got to see lots of stands and graves..? I walked so much and my feet almost fell off. Me and several people ate at a restaurant (I forgot the name) and I ordered Nyonya Laksa (ITS GOOD!!) and the taste reminds me of Lodeh.

After the Melaka tour we went to the beach and my head started to hurt so bad so I just sat on the swing for most of it until I decided to walk and met my friends midway. We went to Glami Lemi after that (I finally got a TnG at the rest area yayyy) and my head still hurts! We checked in late at night and cause we had to share a bathroom it took me so long to finally get to shower cause I was the last one..

Oh and Nafiah invaded our room. More specifically MY bed.

Yesterday was a 6/10 (I felt sick most of the time)

Yesterday was such a memorable day of fun, food, and history! Visiting Melaka made me realize how much Southeast Asian nations share through our histories of colonization. Walking through St. Paul’s Hill, Dutch Square, and Jonker Street felt like stepping back in time, and I found myself imagining what life must have been like back then. I also found it really interesting that they have a Fort Santiago, just like we do in the Philippines, and it made me wonder if both forts were named after the same Santiago. Of course, the experience wouldn’t have been complete without food. I absolutely loved the Nasi Ayam I had for lunch, and the sweet, icy Cendol was the perfect treat after all the walking.

Hopped a bus and off we go,

Julianna Marionne Santos 🫶🫧

MALACCA!! Where do I even start?? It has been so fun from the very beginning 🤯🤯. I always love going to Malacca because this place has so many things to offer! But the weather is just tooooo hot 😭😭. And not to mention the fact that Eca turned hangry (hungry + angry) she’s so cute, but waaay too hungry.

Jarry managed to find a place that sells food sooo cheap, I only spent RM15 for Malacca’s famous asam pedas (a must when you’re here), fresh orange juice, and two servings of rice 🍴. I told Lee I wanted to play games at the beach, so I invite this one AUN group and asked them to play volleyball with me and some Malaysian kids. I LOST THE MATCH. We danced even though we lost, but bruh, nevermind 🕺🏻.

Later, I talked with Natsumi and Lee before bed until around midnight, and omg I had so much fun 😭😭. We called it a “sleepover” because we combined three beds. I LOVE MY GIRLIES 💖

Day 6 was such a thrilling adventure 🚗✨. Since tomorrow is Independence Day, locals were already on their long weekend mood, which made every place extra lively. We managed to hop across three different cities today, and honestly, each had its own unique vibe and experience—it felt like three mini trips in one. The highlight for me was definitely in Melaka: I had the best Hainanese chicken rice ever 🤤, and their specialty stores there are truly worth the drive (some you can’t even find anywhere else!). To end the day, our stay at Glami Lemi was just perfect—comfy and such a nice way to recharge after a long, fun day. 🌟

After that, I went to Jonker Street to roam around Jonker area. I found the Chicken with rice which is really tasty! It like Thai food because of spicy flavor.

It was such a fantastic trip that I could able to visit the heritage city of Malaysia. There have varieties of historical places which brought the thought of how glamorous Malaysia was . Although the weather is intense(super duper hot) , me and my friend explored around the city and bought some souvenirs. And then , when I arrived Glami Lemi , I was so shocked as I felt the nature that I’ve never had before. Anyway, Melaka trip will be one of memories I won’t ever forget

We visited the remains of A Famosa fortress, where the Porta de Santiago gate still stands today as a famous historical landmark, along with the oldest church in the city. These sites gave us a deeper sense of Melaka’s heritage.

We also explored Jonker Walk, where I enjoyed chicken rice, one of the best meals I’ve had in Malaysia.

One of the most awaited day has finally arrived! I’m most excited for the Melaka Day Trip! Melaka is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which showcases architectural influences from its Malay, Chinese, Indian, and European past. Historically, it served as a major hub for international trade and also played an important role in the spread of Islam. We visited several places, like the Dutch Square, Jonker Street, Christ Church, St. Famosa Hill, etc. It was super insightful as we could learn Melaka’s history from these places! Then, we headed to the Klebang Beach. We played volleyball with local children there! Overall, it was a very fun day (eventhough it was super hot), but I learned a lot today! especially about Malaysian history🥳🤩

🥵😵‍💫🌅

Okay so on saturday all i remember is being hot, tired, sleepy, and walking about 10 thousand miles. In Melaka, we walked and looked at stuff, took pictures, and so on. It's an old town, and i thought that wow, it looks a lot better than old towns do in Indonesia. There, we ate some good food with huge portions that left me full until nighttime. Speaking of nighttime, after we went to the beach (where I just walked around and didn't know what to buy), the night at glami lemi wasn't what i expected?😭 Though I'm not sure what i expected. Definitely didn't expect so many crows. A sleepy, fun, but tiring day.

Day 6, I was beyond excited because we were heading to Melaka, a famous historical city I had learned about before. I’ve read and studied a bit about its rich history, so I had high expectations and was really looking forward to seeing it with my own eyes.

When we arrived, it was quite hot, but that didn’t take away from how amazing the city felt. The highlight for me was finally getting to see the Red Church (Christ Church Melaka) something I had only seen in pictures before. It was so beautiful in person and definitely my favorite part of the trip.

Melaka has such a classic charm, full of character and history, with a strong influence from Western colonial times. I loved walking through the streets and taking in the atmosphere. Plus, there was so much food everywhere! The city is like a paradise for food lovers it reminded me of the lively street markets in Thailand.

In the evening, we went to the seaside where there were even more food stalls, and everything looked so delicious. It was vibrant, lively, and full of amazing smells and flavors.

Overall, I had so much fun today and truly felt like I fulfilled a dream by visiting Melaka. It’s a place full of history, beauty, and life I’m so happy I got to experience it.

⛪️📜🕰️

Maprang (Rina);>

We get to see, touch, know, and understand the historical background of such a wonderful place in Malaysia. The buzzing streets of jonker and the scorching heat from the sun is the ingredients to have tan skinned. What I was really surprised about was the way those buildings were preserved. The oldest building was around 1510 when Potugile was ruling Malaysia. St. Paul’s Church was an eye opening place because in there, we could see the fusion of colonizers, Portugal, Dutch and British. I think we all should know about history so that we will not do this again.

Melaka was really fun! This was my first time visiting a historical place and learning about the colonization that happened in the region. During the tour, I reflected a lot on colonization, post-colonization, imperialism, and the development of the country. Comparing Indonesia and Malaysia, I realized how both share a similar history of colonization, especially because of their shared roots and geographical location. It is also interesting to note how the Dutch and the British “exchanged” their colonies, ruling for a similar length of time. This made me think more deeply about how those histories continue to shape modern-day society and raise further questions for me to explore.

Mellaca was such an amazing experience! I loved strolling around the heritage sites, soaking in the atmosphere, and of course, trying the famous laksa, it was so delicious. Even though the weather was really hot, the stunning architecture made it all worthwhile. Every building felt like a masterpiece, and I couldn’t stop admiring the old town’s beauty. I also visited the beach, enjoyed the view, and snapped tons of photos to capture the moment. Exploring Mellaca was truly unforgettable, and I enjoyed every second of it!

At first, I was like, “Nope, not buying anything today.” But then… thanks to hanging out with Galih and Ezra, I ended up shopping anyway 😅. In the end, I grabbed some clothes for my family so worth it! 👕👗🛍️
