Oliver Cromwell might have once earned the reputation of being a dictator because he was strict among his people and was respected to the extent they gave him the title "Lord Protector" and wished for him to be the king of England after King Charles l's execution. He led his army so well that they never lost a single battle. His army was able to stop any members of Parliament that opposed Charles' trial. He made sure new laws were passed instructing what could be done and what couldn't over Sundays. He made harsher punishments for swearing, gambling, and drunkenness. He imposed very hard policies against Catholics in Ireland to the point that he killed thousands of men, women, and even young children. He even stole land from Irish Catholics and gave it to English landowners. Perhaps Oliver Cromwell earned his role as dictator this way.

Oliver Cromwell earned the reputation of being a dictator for a few reasons. First, though he was a motivating leader, he was strict. Cromwell stimulated the army's interest in working hard, making him a good leader. However, he demanded qualities of not only himself but the entire army. He was very severe. Next, Cromwell stole land from the Irish Catholics and just gave it away to random English people. Lastly, he killed thousands of people, including children. These reasons might have handed the reputation of a dictator to Oliver Cromwell.

Cromwell might have earned the reputation of being a dictator because after the civil war, he lots of power. Also, Cromwell was very strict with himself and his soldiers. Cromwell controlled the military, which led to an unfair trial for Charles I.

Oliver Cromwell is described as a dictator because he was very strict and he did not look at what rank they were in, he just decided whether the were in or not by their "performance". He also did not let people that believed or supported the king to be apart of the trial. He also had much power after the Civil War.

I think Oliver Cromwell might have earned the reputation of being a dictator because he was strict with his soldiers. He was a really good leader, and his people called him the "Lord Protector". He banned swearing and drunkenness, and never lost a single battle. He also promoted people with their skill, not their position in the nobility or their wealth. Cromwell also stole land from Irish Catholics and gave it to English people. Lastly, he put King Charles I on trial, and placed soldiers around the coutroom. The soldiers stopped anyone who opposed the trial from entering. Therefore, I think this is how Oliver Cromwell earned the reputation as a dictator.

Oliver Cromwell earned the reputation of a strict, yet cruel, dictator. With his army, New Model Army, he led an unfair trial against Charles I. It was unfair because he only let members of the Parliament who sided with Cromwell in, he did not let members that sided with the king enter the trial room. After the trial, he then led a public execution on Charles I. After Charles I, Cromwell ruled under the title "Lord Protector", he imposed very harsh rules. He also declined the freedom and population of Irish Catholics by executing many and taking land away from them. However, one good way he took his freedom of dictatorship is that he experimented with the Parliament. The history of these experiments are still referred to today. This is how Oliver Cromwell is remembered as a dictator in history.

First, he had an unfair trail against the king by only letting Parliament members who opposed the king in, not supporters. He was also very brutal. Oliver Cromwell was a very harsh dictator of his time.

Oliver Cromwell earned the reputation of being a cruel and bad dictator in England. One reason is because after the Civil War, he had complete control over England with unchecked power which is exactly what a dictator is. He also formed his own army and rebelled against the king of England. Cromwell demanded a large amount of discipline from his soldiers and would not abide any intolerance. After they won the Civil War, he put King Charles I on trial. His soldiers did not let any members of the Parliament in who were on Charles' side. He unfairly executed King Charles I and stepped into a place of leadership. When he was a leader, Cromwell made new rules that were to be enforced everywhere in England, Ireland, and Scotland. His new rules were strict and offered harsh punishments for drinking, gambling, and swearing. He killed thousands of men, women, and children that weren't abiding by these laws. He stole land from the Irish and gave it to the English landowners. In many ways, Oliver Cromwell truly deserved the name, the dictator of England.
