This happened to me at my first job in a private language school in Amposta. I had just graduated from University and I was working as an English teacher for the first time, so I was very happy and pleased with my job.

I had been working there for a couple of weeks and everything was great; I was getting to know my students better and my workmates and my boss seemed to be very nice. In addition, my boss used to send me important Whatsapp messages or information related to the school, the students or the lessons when she wasn't teaching at the school. Everything was fine but, suddenly, something happened.

One day, she sent me a message telling me about a problem she had had with a student's mother because of a payment. Then, I replied to her message telling her not to worry and, after that, I also wrote: "Així és la vida" (or, at least, that’s what I intended to write). Some hours later, when I finished work, I looked back at the messages on my phone and I realized that the auto predict text function was on and... Guess what? I suppose that you can imagine tragedy approaching.
Yes, you're right. The auto predict text had changed my message, so I had actually replied to her: "Així és la vodka". Therefore, as you can imagine, I was terrified because in addition it was too late to delete the message. I was really embarrassed because I didn't want my boss to think that I was drunk, that I didn’t take her seriously or anything similar to that, it was just my second week and we hadn't had many opportunities to get familiar yet.

On the following day, I was really embarrassed because I thought that I had probably given a bad impression, so I quickly got into my classroom pretending everything was fine and nothing had happened. However, my boss precisely got to school right after me, so she came straight away into my classroom before I could start my class and she said to me: "Hey, Mireia! I'm also looking forward to the weekend!". I was absolutely terrified and looked back at her but then, I realized she was laughing a lot. Luckily, she had just laughed at my message and she perfectly understood it when I later explained what had actually happened!

MIREIA

I can perfectly remember one day of my childhood one embarrassing situation happened to me. I had just started in a new school and I was invited to a birthday party in a shopping centre. We have been together only for a couple of month and we didn’t have time to know well each other. I think that´s the reason I can remember so good that ridiculous day. We were having fun on the top of a building where it was a play center especially for celebrate birthdays parties. The point was that the building was a little old and some of the shops were closed. We had eaten something when I realized that I needed to go to the toilet urgently. There was only one toilet and was obiosly busy at that time and because I knew that place I thought I could go out and find another toilet downstairs in the ground floor. The problem was that every single toilet for this damn mall were closed and the way to come back to the play area on the top, I couldn’t resist and I piss on very close to the door. You can imagine how fluently was if you remember how much drink you could take on this all inclusive sugar drink kids party. I wish i had waited to my turn on the first time.

Many years ago, I was with my family and some friends enjoying a weekend in a little town called Guialmons, where we had a house. We decided to visit a town near there called Sant Gallard. Some of my friends, my husband and all the children rode bicycles, but I went there by car, to pick up the little ones and drive them back to the village. We spent there a good time, playing all together, until the time to return.

I return by car with two of my children, the youngest ones. The rest of the people returned by bicycle.

When we arrived to Guialmons, all the children kept playing and the adults went to prepare the dinner. Fortunately, a pair of friends didn’t come with us, they visited Sant Gallard a bit late, so they returned to Guialmons one hour later we were back. When they arrived, they asked me if I had lost something, and I quickly replied no. They laugh and show me that inside their car there were one of my sons, Nil. I stayed stunned; I didn’t understand anything. They explained to me that when they arrived to Sant Gallard they found Nil in the middle of the village with his bicycle, crying a lot, he was alone.

The worst thing was that we had not missed him. I thought he was back with his father, and his father thought he was back with me. I felt really guilty.
Mar

About three years ago, as usual, I took a book from my neighborhood library. It was a John Berger’s books, one of my favourite authors. In addition, I had wanted to read that book for a long time, and it was a lucky to find it in my library.

So, when I was at my home, I prepared to me a red wine with some cheese to start the book. It was a perfect plan. I started to read, the reading was being fantastic, educational and full of poetic, as Berger’s books are always, but suddenly, my cup of wine fell on the book! “Oh shit, what a pity!” I thought. Many pages were stained with wine. But, days later I should to return the book to my library and I didn’t know what to do. Luckily, the next day I had an idea; to buy the same book, a fantastic new white book.
The following week I went to the library and I explained my anecdote to librarian. Also, I gave the new book to my library. The librarian laughed a lot and she thanked me for the new book.

Nowadays, when I read a book from the library, I only drink water!

Raquel Bistuer

This embarrassing anecdote happened 2 years ago. One of my relationships was a man who called Daniel. This relationship lasted 5 years and unfortunately, I haven’t seen him again although I had liked having been good friends.

On Sundays, I enjoy having my breakfast in a bar while I check my mail and read the newspaper. I use to go the same bar every Sunday because it’s a beautiful bar with soul music and it has a terrace where the sun is completely shining all the morning. In fact, this is the main reason to go there, mostly in winter.

One day, I was seated on the terrace of the bar when a man sat next to me and opened his newspaper. He was having his breakfast alone. Suddenly, I realized that I knew this man but I didn’t remember that. Apparently, making memory, I was seeing Daniel with 40 years more. He was him!! Without a second thought, I went up to him and said:

-Hello Daniel. How are you?

He seemed excited for my conversation but when I had been speaking 10 minutes about our past life together, Daniel, who curiously was called Daniel too, told to me:

-Sorry, but I haven’t had this kind of live with you. But…, nice to meet you. He laughed and I was burning with shame. I won’t go to that bar never more. Such a disaster!!

Magda Blanes

This happened to me when I was a little girl. Every summer my parents, my four siblings and me, went to the village to be with my grandparents for a month. And every summer, in the middle of August, we had a familiar meeting with all the extended family: uncles, cousins, grandparents...That meeting was very special for me, it always was the best moment of all the summer.

At that time, I had a favourite cousin, his name is Iñaki, he was very, very funny. For me, being with him was something extraordinary. He always explained a story behind another, he never stopped, and they were funny stories, also some jokes.

I always followed Iñaki everywhere because I didn’t want to miss any moment. But that year happened something different, we were playing in a pine forest when, suddenly and very seriously, Iñaki turned and told me, ‘You can’t follow me’. I was small, 6 or 7 years old, and those words were terrible for me, for a few seconds my heart ran very quick. Then, he told me, I go to the bathroom, I come back fast, you wait me here. And then I understood the situation, but I had had a horrible moment, I had felt a lot of shame.

Victòria

It all happened on the first day of the first job in my life. This last summer, I started working as a receptionist in a residence of elderly people, located in Gracia's neighborhood in Barcelona.
Considering the fact that I live in Badalona, the best option was to take the tube to commute. However, that day my father did me the favor of taking me to my working place on a motorbike in the morning.
My first working day was going great, they taught me a lot of new things but little by little I was learning them. My working day was from 8:45 in the morning until 2:15 in the afternoon. Although, the shameful moment was coming...
Afterward, when my journey was over, I said goodbye and gathered my things with the idea of going home for lunch.
I was walking looking for the metro station when suddenly, I realized that I had forgotten my wallet at home.
There I was, in the center of Barcelona without money, a credit card, or the ticket of the metro to get back to my house... I didn't know what to do!!! If I didn't do anything I had to stay there in Gracia until someone could come and pick me up.
Then, the best idea I could come up with was to ask someone to let me sneak into the subway.
After all that happened, when I told my friends and family about it, we laughed a lot.
