Year 8
In full sentences
Q1) What is erosion?
Erosion is the process of moving dirt and earth by either constant use or moving of earth, an example of erosion is when the sand on a beach slowly gets washed away into a new area by the waves destroying that beach.

Q2) What is deposition?
Deposition is the process of when eroded rock or sediments are moved to an area and compacted to help create an entirly new landform.

Q3) Describe what a destructive wave is?
A destructive wave is when a wave hits with enough force or angle to move the sand away from the beach due to the stronger backwash which is the erosion of the sand.

Q4) Why do some rocks erode faster than others?
The reason why some rocks erode faster than others is because not only where they are play a part in it, but also due to the amount of wind, waves and the tempreture change that the rock endures.

Q5) Predict and explain what is going to happen to the 12 Apostles in 50 years time.
Since the twelve apostles are now constantly being weatherd and eroded everyday due to the force of the waves and how often they hit, in 50 years there will not be the twelve apostles but just tiny rock stacks.

Q6) Why do people build 'groins' in beaches?
The reason why the need for groins on some beaches is important is due to the constant battering of waves which causes sand to be shifted away from the beach, while building groins helps break up that impact and help contain the sand.

Q7) Find a 2 picture of a coastal landscape (attach it) and describe the different landforms in the picture.

The landforms present in the picture is firstly an arc which was caused by constant weathering of the waves causing the rock to erode, the headland which in time may be pushed back even further due to wind and erosion, the cliffs are also present showing the edge of the landform and also the beach is present showing the line between the landform and the ocean.
