John Wilson had a impact on Zebra which was positive and life changing. This connects to "From letter to a young artist" Before John Wilson Zebra was close minded and grumpy, and told such sad stories every time. In the text it states "You always tell such sad stories," Andrea said. The bell rang. Mrs.English dismissed the class. In the hallway, Andrea said to Zebra "You know you are a very gloomy life form." "Andrea, get off my case," Zebra said." This shows how Zebra is gloomy and when Andrea said that he is "gloomy life form" and he replied saying get off my case. After when John Wilson gave him the picture of Zebra it expanded his imagination and he was more open and he had empathy for John Wilson because he fought in the Vietnam war and lost his arm so he drew him a picture. John Wilson taught him how to do art and now Zebra goes through the garbage to make a sculpture that he learned to make from John Wilson. In "from letter from young artist" it states "showing you the ropes, bringing you through the system. I think of them also as inspirational people who have who have broken grounds or lit a path." Showing how people need a person to guide to the right direction.

In the story “Zebra” John Wilson had a positive impact on Zebra. John Wilson’s appearance in Zebra’s life influenced him to see things in a good way and helped him think outside the box. It states in the text, “He was about to turn away when he saw the man stop and look around and peer up at the red-brick wall of the school.” This evidence shows how Zebra was not concerned about anything around him. But after Zebra and John started to know more about each other, Zebra became sympathetic and was inspired by things around him. “Later that day, Zebra sat at his desk at home, working on a drawing... Racing together over that landscape were a helicopter and a zebra... He signed it: ‘To John Wilson, with thanks. Zebra.’” This evidence shows how Zebra became a caring person compared to before. He also became more thoughtful about his surroundings and people around him. In the story “From Letter to a Young Artist” it states, “...a mentor is someone who takes the responsibility of ‘schooling you,’ showing you the ropes, bringing you through the system. I think of them also as inspirational people who have broken ground or lit path... Just the he’s out there puts me on a path and lights the was.” This evidence shows how Zebra’s mentor John Wilson, taught him the organs (observe, listen, feel) empathy and rigor from “From Letters to a Young Artist”, and taught him how to use them in his art and his life. This evidence also shows how John thought Zebra how to work on projects that have resonance to their life or belongings and other peoples and how John “lit up” Zebra’s path.

The impact John Wilson had on Zebra was a positive outcome. Before John Wilson introduced Zebra to the painting he drew him Zebra was a very dull and boring person. After, John Wilson impacted Zebra to be more of an open-minded person. In the literature reading it states, " over supper that evening, Zebra told his parents he was thinking of taking a summer art class offered by the school." This illustrates that Zebra become more open to opportunities and considering new ideas. According to the text, " from Letters to a young artist it states, " Although it's important to make communities with like-minded people". This elucidates how you need to surround yourself with like-minded people, which is similar to what Zebra conducted. Zebra took an opportunity to join a summer art class with people who are interested in the same hobby as him. This is the impact John Wilson had on Zebra and how it connects to the text, " from Letters To A Young Artist".

John Wilson has a positive impact on Zebra because when Zebra's arm was hurt and he couldn't run anymore Zebra was gloomy. In the article it states that “When it was Zebra turn, he told a story about a bird that one day crashed against a closed windowpane and broke a wing. A boy tried to heal the wing but couldn’t. The bird died, and the bird buried it under a tree on his lawn.” This means that zebra was gloomy before and felt so empty of himself. When Zebra met John Wilson he became more happy fill of hope because in the passage of Zebra it states “Later that day, Zebra sat at his desk at home. He held the large sheet of paper in place by pressing down on it with the palm and fingers of his left hand.” According to 'Letters to a Young Artist", it states "It is more active than sympathy. It requires more intellectual development. Sympathy, to me, is just tears. Empathy is potentially very productive." According to 'Letters to a Young Artist", it states “.... a mentor is someone who takes the responsibility of ‘schooling you,’ showing you the ropes, bringing you through the system. I think them as inspirational people who have broken ground or out a path.” This means that John Wilson is Zebras mentor for helping him out.

John had a strong positive impact on Zebra because they both can't use their arm, they both have a connection through art because John introduced him to art when he gave him the picture and Zebra was inspired by him and his work ever since. John taught him a lot of things throughout. According to the text, it states, "Zebra looked at the drawing. The man had crossed out Adam and over it had drawn an animal with a stubby neck and short legs and a striped body....He lived four blocks from school. The school bus dropped him off at his corner. In his schoolbag he carried his books and the notebook with the drawing." This shows how inspired Zebra was by his work and what he did for him. John also has a strong impact on Zebra also because he came to John's art class with a helicopter as his art piece for John's class and it is a connection to John because he was on the helicopter before he broke his arm during the Vietnam War, he felt empathy for him. According to the text it states, "He took the drawing and tacked it to the wall. The next day he gave them all the same home assignment: draw or make something they felt very deeply about.....The following morning, he bought the helicopter to class. Eeewwww, what is that? Andrea said.
Something to eat you with, Zebra said.
Get human, Zebra. Mr.Wilson will have a laughing fit over that.
But John didn't laugh. He held the helicopter in his hand a long moment, turning it this way and that, nodded at Zebra, and placed it on a windowsill, where it shimmered in the summer light." This shows how Zebra reflected John's life using art, Zebra was inspired by him and he had empathy, they both know how it feels to lose something. This connects to "Letter's to a Young Artist" because Zebra did something out the box and that what every artist needs to do, artist should want to do bigger and better things and that's what artist do. According to 'Letters to a Young Artisrt", it states "It is more active than sympathy. It requires more intellectual development. Sympathy, to me, is just tears. Empathy is potentially very productive." This is why they had a connection to "Letters to a Young Artist", Zebra had empathy and he stepped out his comfort zone all thanks to John. This is why John has a strong positive impact on Zebra and what makes him have a connection to "Letters to a Young Artist."

A impact John Wilson has on Zebra is that Zebra has is more open minded. In the text it states " “He is from a small town in Virginia. Are you thinking of signing
up for his class?”
“I can’t draw,” Zebra said.
“Drawing is something you can learn.”
“Mrs. English, is it okay to ask how did Mr. Wilson—um—get hurt?”. This piece of a show how open minded he was and an inference that can be made is that he is focused on art that brought the positive unto him. John Wilson is like a mentor to Zebra. This goes to show Mr Wilson was a positive influence and "A Letter To a Young Artist" shows a connection to Zebra and John Wilson. In the text it states " I suppose in the strict sense of the word mentor is someone who takes the responsibility of "schooling you" showing you ropes, bringing you through the system. I think of them also as inspirational people who have broken ground or lit a path". This piece of evidence shows how this evidence connects to Zebra due to John Wilson being a mentor. John Wilson has inspired Zebra to be a better person again.

John Wilson has a strong positive affect on Zebra. John Wilson's drawing if Zebra inspired him to start creating art. John Wilson was is like a mentor to Zebra. In "Zebra" it states, "He reached into his pocket and drew out out a small pad and a pen. He placed his pad against the fence...Zebra unrolled the sheet of paper and saw line drawing, a perfect image of his face. He was looking at himself in the mirror...From time to time he glanced at it." This shows that John Wilson inspired him to start examining art and doing it himself. This connects to "From Letters to A Young Artist" because in the reading it states, "Mentors are different from teachers in general because you pick them. You seek them out, or sometimes they declare themselves as your mentor." This is shows the connection in mentor ship between Zebra and John Wilson and "From Letters to A Young Artist."

For example the text states " Adam, you all intrested in art. No. You ever try your hand at it. I've made drawings for class. I don't like it. " This shows how Zebra didnt care about what John Wilson was talking about. Another example the text states " he couldn't sleep. He went over to his desk and looked at John Wilson's drawing. The galloping little zebra stood very still over Adam. Early the following afternoon, on the last day of school, zebra went to mrs. English office and signed up for John Wilson's summer art class. This is because they were both in similar situations and they used art to change their paradigm. Art is the function that placed as a catalyst that sparked up Zebras imagination when John Wilson was gave Zebra the picture. The story started to have action which shows that Zebras paradigm changed. This is because Zebra was gloomy and there was no action. But when he encountered John Wilson and presented art he began to change his concept. The story states “Fevers sometimes did that to him: excited his imagination..... the little zebra running.” This shows that at this point when Zebra was given the picture that

One piece of evidence from the letter, "Letters to a young Artist" is "I suppose in the strict sense of the word, a mentor is someone who takes the responsibility of ‘schooling you,’ showing you the ropes, bringing you through the system." I think this is the perfect quote to represent the relationship between Zebra and John Willson because John Willson "showed him the ropes" to art and the things art can do for you mentally.

He is like a teacher/mentor to Zebra. According to the story “Zebra”, it states, “ Later that day, Zebra sat at his desk at home. Zebra had the odd sensation that all the houses on the street had turned toward the man and were watching him as he walked along.” This quote takes place right after John Wilson finishes talking to Zebra. This shows that John Wilson’s talk with Zebra, made Zebra see life with more empathy and more lively. According to the text, “from Letters to a Young Artist”, “Stepping outside gives you the space to watch, listen and feel.” To be an artist you must obtain the three organs (eyes, ears, heart).

The impact that john Wilson have on zebra was a positive impact because John Wilson thinks zebra has more potential to view the world in a good way. For example in the paragraph 140 states " Are you thinking of signing up for his class? I cant draw, Zebra said. Drawing is something you can learn." This evidence shows that Zebra was at the state of mind where he was not believing in himself. Another example is in text "Young Artist" paragraph 11 states " It is a way of bringing order to the otherwise chaotic situation of life. I say chaotic because as an artist you are both in life and commenting on life." This evidence states how people can go through crazy situations and express it on a piece of paper or object.

John Wilson's impact to Zebra, made Zebra more positive and more bloomy. In the text it states "you are becoming a pleasant life form," Andrea said. This shows Zebra has also people viewing him as a positive person, and he changed throughout time. This relates to the passage "From Letters To A Young Artist" by both main characters having mentors/teachers. In the text it states "mentors are different from teachers in general because you pick them. You seek them out, or sometimes they declare themselves as your mentor." This can be referred to John Wilson being Zebras mentor in art. John Wilson was a mentor because he helped Zebra with his view on things amd how to draw.

John Wilson had a positive impact on Zebra because he introduced Zebra to art and became a mentor to him. For example, in the text it states “Actually, I think I’ll walk, too” Zebra said “I was thinking maybe pick up some really neat stuff in the street”. This shows that Zebra was picking trash off the streets to create art like how Wilson was in the beginning. Another example, is from “From Letters to A Young Artist” and it states “I suppose in the strict sense of the word, a mentor is someone who takes the responsibility of “schooling you” showing you the ropes bringing you through the system”. This is the meaning of Wilson and Zebra’s relationship, Wilson is Zebra’s mentor. This the impact the John Wilson had on Zebra.

A positive impact that John Willson had on Zebra was introducing Zebra to art. Zebra was a very sad person at first but thank to John Wilson Zebra’s emotions change. According to the story it states, “when he woke at night and switched on his desk light and peered at the drawing, he saw the little Zebra galloping across the page, along the contours of his face”. This evidence showed that Zebra was inspired be art.

A positive impact that John Wilson has on Zebra is by using art and imagination. This also connects to "from letters to a young artist" by showing how there is empathy in both excerpt. For example the text states " Adam you all intrested in art? No. You ever try your hand at it? I've made drawings for class. I don't like it. " This shows how John wilson countors Zebra's feelings while asking him about art. Another example the text states " seated at his desk, he slipped the drawing carefully into one of his notebooks. " This shows how Zebra gained love for art and was encouraged by John Wilson.
