Many of the families live within the village and it is a mixture of long term residents and newer commuters, looking for that direct link to London. Firstly as we are linked to the school, so have very close links to the families and children from the school.The village also has a children’s centre which also has close links to the preschool. They often signpost parents to the preschool and run a variety of sessions which we support and signpost our parents to, such as toddler talk, play sessions and breastfeeding support. The children’s centre also offers more targeted support, which enables us to communicate with family workers or outreach workers, to support families in need. The village also has several leisure classes running, like ballet classes, football, brownies, scouts, karate and cycling. They preschool often supports these groups with informing parent and they will run taster sessions for the children within the setting.The local public house often holds family events for the community to mix at and holds events such as Christmas carols or charity fundraising.The village church also regularly allows the school to visit holding special assembles and educational celebrations, as well as events such as summer fetes, toddler activities and fun scavenger hunts. kirstygreen82 https://padlet.com/kirstygreen82/i1erdfxudfhy/wish/209726464 2017-11-23 14:44:44 UTC https://padlet.com/kirstygreen82/i1erdfxudfhy/wish/209726464 Possible improvements: The village also has a care home, which we are keen to improve engagement with. Historically, the preschool would visit the care home at Christmas to sing Christmas carols with the residents, this is something I am working towards re-instated for this year. It would also be nice to improve on parent visit to the preschool.
