There were bruises on her forearms, thighs and forehead as well as under her left eye. She was given CPR because she wasn't responding. Breastmilk, ritalin and clonidine were found in the baby’s system. After Alyssa’s murder, Dawn blamed Mary and blackmailed her so that she would go to the jail, she said they would take good care of her and will be sent to foster care to have a bright future. Her neighbors also said that Mary was always getting in trouble. Her mom used to scream at her all the time. Her neighbor saw Mary digging the grave for the little baby. 

A nurse from the hospital explained that Dawn was extremely attached to the babies. She was great at showing new mothers how to breast-feed and to swaddle, but she took some time off when her husband died and was acting so odd when she came back. She was praying and singing all the time which made parents uncomfortable.

Mary was a bright kid. She always looked like the queen of Sheba because she looked so nice. The relationship between Mary and her mom was inseparable. 

However, she didn’t have any friends or anybody her own age to play with. She used to help her mom with bills and reading. She used to do all the calculations when she was just 8 years old because her mother couldn’t do them herself. Her mom would never spend a dime on her.

She also swung her by holding one of her feet, but by that time she was already dead.
