It establishes that "we" are on this learning journey together. Students are able to see and hear each other and can address each other directly with the convenience of being asynchronous. Getting to know students and checking in with them, especially when teaching online is important. Google Forms is free, easy to use, and allows me to collect information quickly and the data is formatted nicely in Google Sheets for me to access at anytime. Examples of how I have used Google Sheets include: beginning of semester student survey, check-ins throughout the semester, exit ticket, peer review, formative assessments, and student feedback on synchronous sessions or assignments. I have used the free version of Kahoot to create an icebreaker game for my students to play to get to know each other better and contributes to the strengthening of our online learning community. In my beginning of the semester survey, one of questions asks students to share 1-2 interesting facts about themselves. Iti is free and drag and drop implementation. I created an emoji person and use it for quick videos for content or reminders. It provides some humor in delivering information.
