Earlier this week, I was standing in the library waiting for school to start and my friend said out loud, "nice pants" in a sarcastic voice and we all heard it besides the kid he was talking about. Although this was mean, it is an example of an aside because it was meant for specific people to hear, and for someone else to not hear it. Finally, this is an aside that has happened to me, and it happens almost everyday.

In the movie, The Longest Yard, Paul Crewe was trying to figure out the reputation of the criminals in the prison he was in. When he searched his friend reputation, it came up as half a star out of five. When he saw this, his friend who is half a star and another man was present at the time and Crewe then said "thank you half a star" when his friend said something dumb. This was meant to be heard by the other man and himself, not by the half a star friend.
