The novella of Mice and Men was written by Steinbeck in reaction to the dark era he lived in, the Great Depression. Since he was a progressive, Steinbeck chose to tell a story of hope based on his own experiences. In fact, he was already promoting concepts such as euthanasia and social equity, which are still considered progressive 50 years later. In the hope that things would change, Steinbeck wrote of Mice and Men to demonstrate the immense gaps that existed between different social classes and races that existed at the time. Basing himself on his own experiences with itinerance, which were commonplace back in his day, he created the characters of George and Lenny.

John Steinbeck was compelled to write this book because he wanted to help mankind understand each other. To begin, segregation is a big topic in this story. As a matter of fact, Steinbeck portrayed throughout the book that Blacks and Whites could coexist and even get along, which was a very unpopular opinion at the time. Also, there is a noticeable gap between the upper and lower class, in terms of money, as well as culture. For example, Lennie and George struggle to find jobs in a society crippled by those who abuse their power

"of Mice and Men" being a very controversial book in the past, it is obvious to see that Steinbeck wanted to denounce the different social injustices within one lecture. In fact, all of them were to describe or criticize the society. One of his main goals was to encourage people to be open to each other, as everyone was to encourage people to be open to each other, as everyone was only focused on themselves due to the great depression raging across America. Further more, Steinback also gathered ideas about divisions and discriminations. Many of them were illustrated: racial discrimination, sexual discriminations and divisions due to social and economic rank or situation. To conclude, this seemingly simple novel included many ideas and addresses many social problems.

John Steinbeck wrote the book of Of Mice and Men because he wanted to others to understand eachother. To start of, the book turns around certain major themes such as racial divisions, differences between rich and poor, etc. These social issues help educate others and change the way they perceive the situation.

John Steinbeck is an American author who mainly wrote books to denunciate in a realistic way the problems of the society in which he lived. As a matter of fact, ''Of mice and men'' is no exception. One of the many problems he wanted to talk about is racial division. The character Crooks is a perfect example of that inequality.

In "Of mice and Men", written by John Steinbeck, the author reprensented the different social divisions of 1930. In fact, he used the two progagonists' adventure to promote racial inequality, monetary division and the belief of what we call the "American dream". The two characters, George and Lennie, travel to a ranch looking for a better life and meet Crooks, Slim, Curley and many other men who live very different lives due to their race, social status or income. In fact, Steinbeck managed to reflect the Great Depression's harsh reality into his character's psychological traits. Finally, as it was previously stated, this world-known best-seller aroused the attention thanks to the way it represented the human relationships.

Back in 1937, Steinbeck this book to criticize the reality of the world around him in an honest and realistic way. To begin with, he included many racial slurs in an attempt to accurately depict the American society at the time. For example, he repeatedly uses the word "n*****" when talking about African-Americans instead of calling them by their actual names to depict the way they were treated at the time. In addition, he showcases the inequalities between the rich and the poor. This can easily be observed when we look at the characters of George and Lennie, poor labourers forced to work for their boss, unable to achieve the famous American Dream. In summary, Steinbeck wrote this book to prove that reality is never perfect, especially the harsh reality of 1930s America.

John Steinbeck wrote "Of Mice And Men" for many reasons. To begin with, he wanted to show that people should try understand each other better. In other words, we should not turn against each other because of our differences. Furthermore, he wanted to demonstrate the harsh reality of his time: racial division, and division between rich and poor. In fact, poor white people like Lennie and George had hard lives, but poor black people such as Crooks had even worse lives. In addition, he wanted to illustrate that the "American Dream" was not realistic. In all honesty, even Americans turned against each other. To summarize, Steinbeck wrote his book to adress many issues in America during the Depression years.

Steinbeck decided to write this book because he wanted to demonstrate the loneliness and isolation of an itinerant lifestyle. The idea of the author to illustrate the psychologie of the migrant workers, such as their unfulfilled dreams of owning their ranches and their loneliness when they are self-dependent, is part of the reasons that Steinbeck decided to write the book, in order to portray this matter. For example, in the novella, the struggle of Lennie and George in search of settlement and companionship is often demonstrated. Also, the historical background in which the author grew up helped him build up his ideas and inspirations. Finally, Steinbeck wrote this book in oorder to illustrate the melancolic life of migrant workers.
