In this afternoon lesson we did our written work. Because we didn’t have an assignment to do at the time, I did my logbooks as I was slowly falling behind and because I have my own piece to do, I didn’t want too much work falling on top of me. I found that this was a good use of my time as I got a lot of work done and was getting back up to date with it all.  

 

What went well: I was good in my acting skills class as I was able to use the techniques that we have learnt and help me to get some ideas to create my own characters and a storyline. This is good because for my scene I will have to come up with a few ideas and by doing this acting lesson, it has helped me.  

This lesson has also helped me in my acting skills. This is good because in my piece I will be taking on a main role and with these acting lessons, my acting skills will be improving, and I will soon be able to see a big different in my acting.  

 

Even better if: to make sure that I am not falling behind on my written work, I will use all of my written lessons to do my logbooks. When at home at the end of the week I will also do my written work for that week too. This is good because then by doing this I will not be falling behind.  

Also to help me at the end of each lessons I will make some notes about what we have done so that when I come to write them up they will still be fresh in my mind.  

Thursday 30th January 

In today’s lesson this is an extra lesson for us to do work for our work experience. In this lesson we split up into groups of 6 and got given the songs for the inter college competition and after half term all of the groups will perform what they have and the tutors will decide which groups foes to compete at inter college.  

My group decide to do the song EX’s wives from Six. My character is Anna of Cleves. However, because I haven’t seen the show, I had used the lyrics on my phone so I could sing along. 

We found that after singing this in a small area we should block it out on stage. Charolette mostly took control on this because she knows the whole show and directed this.  

By the end of the lesson we have had the song blocked out and my homework was to learn the song. I knew that this would be easy for me as I have been told that I have a photographic memory because when performing a show I know the whole show inside out and I can learn a song very easy.  

 

In today’s lesson we started to learn about our FMP. Because I didn’t get a main role in Grease I am doing my FMP and Ang went over the first piece of written work that we needed to do for this project. The first piece is writing up a project proposal which is what we are going to do, how we will record it and make a plan. I found that this was helpful as there is a lot of work to do for this and we had been given help for it.  
After we was all in the theatre, we got split up into 2 groups. The Grease students stayed in the theatre to work on Grease, while the FMP students went with Ang up to the dance studio. In here we got asked if we had any ideas and I said I had an idea to do a scene about death and abuse. Ang told me that this was called ’in your face theatre’ and it was a great idea but I would have to perform last so the audience age was only 18+.After we was all in the theatre, we got split up into 2 groups. The Grease students stayed in the theatre to work on Grease, while the FMP students went with Ang up to the dance studio. In here we got asked if we had any ideas and I said I had an idea to do a scene about death and abuse. Ang told me that this was called ’in your face theatre’ and it was a great idea but I would have to perform last so the audience age was only 18+. 

We then got a big piece of paper and had to write down at least 2 or 3 ideas. I wrote down my idea about death and abuse and came up with a 2nd idea about slapstick and comedy but didn’t have a storyline for it. We were all filmed talking about our ideas for evidence.  

We then got given 15 minutes to go to the library and create a power point on our chosen idea and give examples and why we have or haven’t picked the idea. I wrote about my 2 ideas however; I couldn’t log onto the computers and so while it was being fixed I downloaded power point onto my phone. I did my power point on my phone, but it didn’t look good as I wanted it as it was rushed due to technical issues. I then emailed it to Ang and we went back to her in the dance studio  

When I showed her, my power point she filmed it and I tried to have as much details as possible. Also, in my power point I said that I was going to do my comedy slapstick scene because I could do my death and Abuse at university and it would lose me some audience members and may not get the reaction I want. Ange told me to do some research into ‘in your face theatre’ and start looking at risk assessments and comedy and slapstick for next week.   

 

What went well: I was good at having a varieties of ideas for my FMP. This is good because if one idea fails, then I can have a look at my other ideas and see which one I can use. This is also good because I can write about these in my FMP power point, which will show that I have a wide rang of ideas.   

 

Even better if: to insure that I know how to do a risk assessment form, I will look online with a tutor to see what I must do and how to fill it out carefully. This is good because I have never done a risk assessment and so by doing it with a tutor, I won’t mess it up and I will ask them to help me check it when done, to insure that I haven’t filled it out wrongly.  

 

 

9:00 – 10:30 

In today’s lesson we started off by making a plan of action for the week. My plan for the week was to start my script for my FMP and have my project proposal done by the end of next week. This was a good and easy plan for me as I had an idea for my FMP and knew what my piece would be about. Getting my project proposal done in 2 weeks is a good idea as-well because the sooner I have it done the less written work I’ll have left.  

 

Over the weekend I started my script and my scene is about a 1920 evening party that goes wrong in a slapstick and comedy theme. There will be 4 characters 2 males and 2 females. The characters are Maisie and Edward who are twins and are hosting an evening party for Maisie friend Emily. Maisie is the more mature twin and lady like, whilst Edward is more dopey and loves his drinks too much and likes to make jokes but maybe sometimes takes them too far. Although the twins have different lifestyles, they still love each other and always loves to look out for each other. They always like to have a shoulder to cry on for each other and hope to have an exciting further ahead.  

Emily has been away on Holiday with her fiancé Collin and whilst away there was a very bad thunderstorm and flooded there, hotel. Emily comes to Maisie home to try and relax from the holiday.  

Perkins is the house Butler and has been working for the family since he was a boy. As a boy his father worked as the family Butler and Perkins was a normal little boy who slept in the house with the other house workers and went to school until he became the age of 14 and started to work as the gardener and as he got older he took in his father footsteps and became the house Butler.   

 

 

For the rest of the lesson, because Lewis wasn’t in on Friday and is doing an FMP project me and Charlotte helped him by telling him what he needed to do for his FMP power point. He needed some ideas for his FMP and so me Charlotte and James helped him by watching a few videos online. We did this because he is very funny, and we thought he could do a quiz show with funny and silly answers. This was good as Lewis got some ideas and decide what he will do for his FMP.  

 

3:30 – 4:30 

In this afternoon lesson I started on my project proposal. I started this because I said in my plan for this week, I'll start it. This is good because I have started it and within the lesson, I got the first 2 question done. I found that this was very easy I now I just had the last question to do in my next written lesson. I also found that the question was very easy and was able to answer them in detail, but in my next lesson I will read it again and add some more to it, so that I can reach the word count.  

 

What went well: I was good at helping another student with our FMP. This is good because by helping another student, I know what I am doing which should make my work easy for me to complete.  

  

Even better if: to make sure that my written work is in detail, I will ask someone to double check it after I have done so much work in my logbooks and booklet and project proposal. This is good for me as I will be getting a second opinion and they can tell me if I need to add anything more or remove something.   

Wednesday 5th February 

In this afternoon lesson I did my logbooks. I did this because I wanted to write down what I have done so far in the week so I wouldn’t forget. This is good because now that I have done it, I have got up to date with my logbooks, which means that I won’t be falling behind.  

 

What went well: I was good at having all of my written work up to date. This is good because by keeping it all up to date, I won’t fall behind and will be able to get more practical lesson done at college for my FMP. 

 

Even better if: to make sure that I don’t fall behind on any written work, I will use all my written lesson to do all of my written work and complete any outstanding written work at home. This is good because then if I do my work also at home I won’t fall behind, and I will be able to get more practical work done at college for my FMP.

In today’s lesson I started to write my script ideas as I had an idea. My story is about a 1920 evening party that’s goes wrong. My show will have 4 characters 2 males and 2 females. I did this so that my cast would know what their characters is and get a good idea and they can star to develop their characters more and more throughout the rehearsals 

 

What went well: I was good at having a good idea for my FMP. This is good because if I have a good idea and start creating more ideas to put into my scene, it will make writing my script easy.  

 

Even better if: to improve on getting more ideas I will watch videos and look at how they perform and use them to get some ideas. This is good because the more ideas I have the easier it will be to write my script.  

 

9:00 – 10:30 

In this todays lesson we started to make some mind maps to help me get some ideas. I did this because I wanted to start writing my script, but even though I had a good idea I still needed to write out some ideas to help me just in-case I got stuck. To help me gather up ideas I watched videos on BBC iPlayer from the ‘the goes wrong show’. I picked this because this is where I got my idea from and by watching the 4th and 5th episode gave me the idea to do an evening party that goes. The 5th episode helped me to develop the idea of an evening party and is where I got my characters from. By watching the 4th episode, I was able to get the ideas to create an evening that goes wrong. I was able to put the 2 episodes together and was able to come up with the whole show.

In this afternoons lesson we watched the degree students on level 4 do their showcase. I enjoyed watching them as I will be going to Grimsby University in September and by watching them, I am able to see what I will be expected to do. This also helped me because I would be able to ask them how they did their piece as a group, because just like myself they too had to write their scene and do all backstage management.

Wednesday 12th February 

9:00 – 10:30 

In today’s lesson I went up to the computer room and stared to write my script. With the ideas I had on my mind maps I found that writing the first few pages was easy. Within the lesson I had got the first 3 pages written and within the pages stared the scene off with Maisie and Edward setting up the house and making sure that it is clean and tidy. Also, Maisie is trying to keep Edward in order by keeping him away from the drinks. For this I will use a little trolley and add some 1920’s alcohol bottle and a whiskey decanter filled with a juice that looks like whisky, rum, and wine.  

Also, in the first page we will have our first slapstick which is where the twins walk up to a picture frame with Donald Trump and his wife, pretending they are the twins parents and then the picture frame will fall. To make this happen I will make the photo frame over half term and then get some command hocks and either a clean line or fishing line and will put the hocks onto the back of the photo frame and will put the line under the hocks and someone will be behind the flats holding the line and will let go on a line.  

Another joke that will start half-way on page 2 until the end of page 3 is when Emily tries to come in but Perkins and Edward can’t pull the door open and instead pushes it open and will hit Emily in the face.  

I have used these ideas because I want the scene to be going wrong and by doing this, the audience will understand the theme of my scene and I will keep this in by adding jokes and mistakes throughout the script and they will get bigger as the show goes along.

Friday 14th February 

In today’s lesson we first started off by playing some games. We did this as a warm up which got us all really motivated for the lesson.  
after this we split of into groups. I went upstairs to a computer room so that I could do some research on comedy TV shows and slapstick. I did research on comedy because I wanted my show to contain some comedy actions and lines. I found this TV show which is 'Deal or no deal' with Cathrine Tate as Nan. I watched this and looked at how she acted. Her reactions to the higher money boxes being opened was funny as she would either be calm but angry or she would swear. This helped me as I could find a way to work some comedy actions into my slapstick as I want my FMP to come across as a funny scene for the audience to enjoy.

in this link it is about 'Matt Edwards' audition and time on BGT. through out hah act he keeps his act very funny and slapstick related by saying 'I haven't got long' and slipping or nearly falling over. Also in the finals and semi finals he makes his entrance very dramatic by missing the stage block. I have used this because it is a very funny slapstick where I can take a few ideas to use in my show such as entrance n and off stage, I can take some ideas from Matt and other ideas from other resources and create a slapstick for this. This could be done by either walking off the stage and going thrust the audience and back behind the stage or using a stage door for setting and getting it stuck.

What went well: I was good at having other resource to help me gather ideas. This is good because the more ideas I have the better because some ideas may not work or go ahead and so I'll need some more to go back to.
Even better if: To insure that my idea are safe to do, I will create a risk assessment for all of them and discuss them with my tutor so they can say if they can go ahead or not. This is good because while on stage I need to be aware of the safety for everyone on and off stage. Also if I have an idea that I have not risk assessed or spoke with my tutor about, not only will I be breaking rules, but my work will not be sent off to be mark and I will automatically fail.

In this afternoons lesson I carried on with my booklet. I did this because I didn't want to fall behind and there is a lot work to do. 
I felt that this was good because I was able to get some more work done.

What went well: I was good at my having a good production plan for my rehearsals and keeping my cast informed with their characters development. This is good because if I can keep my show planned and keep my cast up to date, then it shows my leaderships skills as a director, but also it shows that I can get my show done to the high standard that I want it at.

Thursday 12th March
In this afternoons lesson I went upto a computer room with Charlotte to filmy power point on my artist views.
Before we filmed my power point me and Charlotte had a look over it and she suggested to me to not film my costumes and what I will need as I can put that into my logbooks. I decide this was a good idea.
There was a problem during filming which meant we had to film my power point in 3 videos because if it was filmed in one video it may not send so we did it in 3 videos. After filming I told Ang that my power point was filmed in 3 videos and she said it was fine along as it had everything in that she wanted.
Charlotte also said that my power point was brilliant and was really detailed well. This made me fell happy as i got feedback from another student about how well my work was.

What went well: I was good at having my written work detailed. This is good because not only is my written work important to have to support my practical work, but the more detailed it is the better grade I will get.

Friday 13th March
In today's lesson we started  off by playing games for our warm up. We all then did some stretching so we wouldn't hurt ourselves while dancing.
After this I told James that I needed to work on my script and went to the computer room so that I could work my 5th character into my script. I found this was easy because I knew how to end my script. My 5th character is someone who walks on stage and helps out with the slapsticks. When Maisie gets knocked out with the door the 5th Character Ebony will act very nervous and take on Maisie role and then near the end of the scene Maisie will come back on stage and fight with Ebony trying to get each other of stage.
After working on my script for an hour I was asked by James if I would come down to his rehearsals. I found this was annoying but understood that James needed me for his rehearsals and so I spent the rest of the lesson with him and his cast.

What went well: I was good at having my written work upto date. This is good because I don't want to fall behind on my work and also  means that I can help other students on their work if they get stuck.

Even better if: To insure that mine and James rehearsals doesn't happen at the same, I will make sure that my rehearsals are on a different day to James and are happening during our dance classes. I will do this because when we have dance lessons everyone is rehearsing Grease and so this gives me an opportunity to get my rehearsals on these days. This is also good because James can come to my rehearsals and then I can go to his at a different time.

Thursday 27th February
In today's lesson I did my logbooks. I did this because I was staring total behind and I decide to use my time wisely and get my written work up to date. This is also  good because I am able to do more research into the 1920 and their life style.

What went well: I was good at having all of my written work up to date. This is good because if I keep up all of my written work then I will be on top and won’t have much left to do after our pantomime when we have to do our evaluation.

Friday 28th February
In today's lesson James asked me if I would be in his FMP show as a witch and I said yes. He first asked me if I would read some of the script to see if I was suited for the role. The witch was a dopey witch who was funny but was smart and made a mess. James said that he liked me as the witch and offered me the role. I said yes but asked him he would be in mine as Perkins the Butler and so we did the same and I gave him a section of my script. When he was reading the script I helped him on some lines by saying the line how I wanted it to be said such as 'the door is stuck'. I asked him to say the line as if he did't know what to do and worried. He took this well and I asked him if he wanted to be in my FMP as Perkins and he said yes.
For the rest of the lesson he asked me if I would go to his rehearsals which are every Thursday and Friday morning. I felt that I fitted in well with his rehearsals as I really got involved.

What went well: I was good at helping another student with his piece. This is good because not only has he said that the will bee in mine, but it shows that I am able to be another piece. This is also shows to others that if they need extra students in their piece they can ask me as I will be able to yes or no. This also shows that I am reliable to my comments and can treat them the same.  

Even better if: To insure me and James rehearsals aren't at the same time I will talk to my tutors and ask them which lesson I can use as my rehearsal which aren't at the same as James. this is good because then James can be at my rehearsals and I can be at his when they are not the same time.

Thursday 5th March
10:30 - 12:00
In this morning I got my cast and we went to an empty art room to start blocking my scene. I first decided to do a read through of the script. 
After this I told my cast what the set up would be and laid up the room. I then told the cast what we should do in the scenes. I found that this was good as I was tell them what I wanted to have and the actors was able to do this. 
When it came to the door slapstick I showed James what to do and he was able to copy it well. 
Lewis suggested that he should walk over while saying his line and I said but when we have it actually on stage we may have to change it. One problem I came across is while James is saying his lines he's trying to open the stage, but I wanted him to say his lines as if he was not expecting the door to get stuck and look at Edward and Maisie as if he doesn't know what to do. To help him I showed him what I meant and it took a while afterwards to get him to do this perfect, because I want him to say his lines like they was not scripted. He soon get the hang of what I meant but not fully so I suggested we move on and I would send him some links to show him what I mean.

In this afternoons lesson I did some work on my power point. I did this because next week it had be filmed. 

This was good because I was able to get a lot of ideas in.

What went well: I was good at having good communication with my cast. This is good because it shows that I am not scared to tell them my ideas. This is also good because this means that my cast will be able to know what they need to know such as when the show is rehearsals etc.
