In the book My Life By The Chimpanzees, I liked that how the author used the right words at the right times to describe the setting and actions going on. In this book My Life With The Chimpanzees, I disliked how the book would at some parts get boring and some parts of the book didn't catch my interest as much as I would've liked it too. There were some part in the book that weren't the best because of the description that the author used, but besides that, it was an overall "ok" book.

This book was mainly about how Jane Goodall is really good at working with animals. It talks about how she would work with them out in the nature and what steps she took to have the animals be comfortable around her. Along with that she had to raise her kid along with the animals which also took a lot of work. This story also takes place in Africa, the place where Jane always dreamed of going to, to raise animals.

The book didn't just tell facts, but acted like very little kids would be reading it. "Cleopatra Rules!" also used way too many synonyms for my liking.

"Cleopatra Rules!" Is about the life of Cleopatra. It goes through every part of her life from the time she was a little bookworm to the last pharaoh of Egypt. The story of how Cleopatra married Caesar, then Antony was highlited by the book and by the end, i knew just about everything about it. Cleopatra got lots of credit for her smarts and how she made her kingdom prosper too. Cleopatra was a clever queen that only wanted what was best for her country. In the end, she died but left Egypt rich and prospering.

I liked how the book talked about the chimpanzees lives and also hers.

I disliked most of the book because she worded the story horribly. She said random chimpanzee facts in the middle of talking about her son. I also disliked this book because the story was very repetitive. She would talk about a chimpanzee and then she would talk about another chimpanzee after a few pages and the chimpanzee stories were exactly the same. She also have very dramatic moments when she could have died but she some how survived. when she was camping, there was a lion outside. And when she went onto an island, a poacher threw a spear at her but it missed by an inch. She also survived a plane crash and her husband who was on a wheel chair also survived and safely got out of the burning plane before it exploded. Even though this might sound very interesting and fun, but it doesn't sound like something that could happen to her.

summary:
this book is about a girl who grows up to study about chimpanzees in Africa. She studies the chimpanzees every day life and she even lived in the forest to be able to study them everyday. She marries Hugo Van Ludwig who was a Photographer. She marries someone else called Derek. she grows to love chimpanzees and spends more time with them than her own son. she starts a place where they kept chimpanzees who's homes were destroyed. They also gave them as pets to keep. She then finally becomes America's most celebrated naturalists.

Riya Palu

3.5 STARS!!!

SUMMARY: There was a book called the Book Scavenger, and its author, Garrison Griswold, is being taken advantage of for it. Two men, one tall and one short, attacked him in the train station. He had a golden copy of a famous book, and they wanted it for their "boss". When they realized that it wasn't the book they were looking for because they needed to find and old book, they shot him. After they shot him, they heard people coming and decided to leave so that they wouldn't get caught. He was left there by himself until security came and took him to the ER.

LIKED: One thing I liked about the book was that they used lots of description which made it easier for me to imagine what's happening. I also liked how realistic the book was. The second chapter was about how a girl (Emily, who is a fan of garrison's books) couldn't really make friends because she kept moving.

DISLIKE: One thing I disliked about the book was that the pictures (very few) were there to help and to understand the story, but they didn't at all help me

Neimark, is about J.R.R Tolkien's life and achievements, not just in writing, but also as a family member. The book tells the reader how Tolkien wrote amazing books that people love to read today, and about his hardships while in the process and even after finishing his books. Tolkien used stories and fairy tales to distract him from the grief and hardships that he had in his life.

Firstly, there was no suspense which meant nothing exciting. Secondly, there wee too many people in one book making it confusing. Lastly, it wasn't interesting.

Summary:
In Lives of the Scientists it shows the things famous scientists such as Jane Goodall, Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, and more went through. This book focused on smaller stories of many scientists. It showed how you can find the good in hardships like George Washington Carver who was kidnapped and made a slave, there is when he found his interest in botany. This shows that a lot of these people went through problems on how they look.

~3 Stars
The book Mythmaker was about an author by the name of John Ronald Reuel Tolkien. It describes how Tolkien first lived in Africa as a child, moving from one place to another in the span of 10 years. As he grew older, both of his parents perish and is forced to live with Father Francis. He then meets the love of his life, Edith, and sneaks out to meet with her in the middle of the night. Father Francis finds out and bands them from ever seeing eachother in the span of the next 3 years. During this time, Edith finds a new love partner and engages to him not long after. Once reunited, Edith breaks up eith her fiance, and goes to live with Ronald. Edith has 1 child during the time that Ronald is at war and another two once he returned. During the next fifteen years, he would be writing about The Hobbit, and Lord of the Rings while seeing his children grow up into lovely people.

I liked my book because it explained the life of Ronald in a manner that allowed for me to understand with great detail and quotes from the books he wrote. The author also gave situations in which it seemed like you were inside of the book. In conclusion, it was a great book to read and would definitly recommend it to aspiring writers.

I disliked my book because the beggining was very hard to understand and didn't give much detail at all. Another reason why I didn't like my book was because of how uninteresting Ronald's youth really was.

4 STARS!
I liked the book because it taught a really good lesson which is never give up and don't judge people based on their color. I also like that the story because it didn't just tell the reader about Marian Anderson's life when she was famous but also told us about the hardship's that she had to go thru in her life before she was famous. I also liked the parts in the story when they incorporated the things that were going on back then politically. As in how the story told how she had to go preform and do what she loved during segregation.

I didn't like that they kind of rushed the ending because i think they wanted to highlight her singing career but i think they should of told us more about what happened after she retired. I also didn't like in the book is when they kind of repeated a couple things and i think they tried to make the book long but they could have left out some information that wouldn't have affected the story if it was in the book or not. Last i din't like in the book when they stopped talking about Marian and talked a while about other people which is okay but they did it a little too much.

Summary:
On February 27, 1897 Marian Anderson was born. She started singing at 6 years old and joined her church choir. When she grew up she finished school and still wanted to sing. She took vocal lessons and started singing for charity event and other gatherings her career then started and she started getting even more serious about her career she took more vocal lessons and got really good. She auditioned for a an event and won people now new her everywhere and she started touring all over the world. On her tour she faced racial discrimination and was denied several shows because of her race. On Easter Sunday April 9, 1939 she sang in front of the Lincoln memorial and took down the racial discrimination she was facing. After that she kept on singing and eventually retired. She one several awards for her perseverance and she later died on April 8,1993 one day short of the 54th anniversary of when she sang on Easter Sunday.

2 STARS
I did not enjoy baseball heroes. I thought that the story was confusing and the author did not give much detail. It also was very repetitive. On a positive note, I do think that the book had some interesting facts and I did learn a lot about baseball. It also helped me understand more about people's rights which is a very important topic. This story told tales about 4 baseball players. Jackie Robinson, Hank Greenburg, Ila Borders, and Fernando Valenzuela. Each of them struggled, making a career in baseball. They were all treated very poorly either because of their nationality, beliefs or gender. They had to work tremendously hard to fight off all the negative comments and actions people made in arenas where they played. Some players even gave up because the negativity brought them down so much. However, these four people stood up for themselves because they did not care about what everyone else thought. They played baseball because they loved the game and that was their life and nobody could change that.
Towards the end, all their work paid off because they are known as some of the best baseball players in history.

0 STARS!
I like that the book Lives of Scientists told you facts about the book. It also told you about how much they went through.
I disliked how almost every single story was almost the exact same. The stories didn't teach you much. They t they became well known and what science they studied.
The summary of the book is of famous scientists and how they got famous.

STARS: 2

LIKED: I liked how the author was able to write about Robinho's life using his emotions. Like when Robinho's mom was kidnapped the author wrote the section so that the reader could feel how he felt. In that section in particular I felt worried.

NOT LIKED: I didn't really like the vibes in this book. In my opinion, it was a little boring. I think the author could've made it more interesting by maybe adding suspense when talking about Robinho's soccer pros and cons.

SUMMARY: This book starts off talking about one of Robinho's best game. Then it mentions about his life as a child and how any one could tell that the boy had talent with the soccer ball but he was also poor. It says how he was accepted into Beira-Mar at 6 and play futsal, the game that helped with his agility. Robinho started exceeding and later he joined a program that soccer legend Pele hosted. From there it only got better. He got onto a variety of soccer teams and did really good on each one and even with hardships, like his kidnapped mom, he is now a soccer star.

DYLAN SILVA continued... (I was on an anonymous account so I couldn’t get back to the one I was originally writing) (Also, scratch my summary from the other one)

What I disliked continued: I also disliked how the book was not very good at explaining the situation of the Tolkien family in the beginning of the book. Finally, one other thing I disliked was how they went past all the deaths SUPER fast. For example, when Ronalds mother died, their was one page about his grief, and the next page was about him having a great time at the orphanage. And when Ronald learned of his very close friends deaths, it breezes right by.

summary: This book was about the life of one of the most famous writers of all time, J.R.R Tolkien. He is famous for writing two of the most famous books of all time, The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. It is a biography about his entire life. He grew up in Africa, his father passed away there though so his grieving mother moved the family to New England. He lived in New England and went to school at a very good school. His mother passed away when he was about 14, and then he moved in with Father Francis. He studied to be a professor and then became a professor at Oxford. He met a girl named Edith at Father Francis’s orphanage, and they got married. World War 1 came and he fought in it and lost many friends in it. He and Edith has kids, and he continued teaching and giving lectures at Oxford, meanwhile he began to write a fantasy book, titled The Hobbit. After about 10 years of teaching, lecturing, and writing his book, he finished the book. It did great in sales, so he made more. About another 10 years later, he finished the Hobbit series and focused on mainly teaching. Soon after that, he began another, deeper fantasy book, titled Lord of the Rings. Continued writing and teaching, and after about 18 years, he finished his 3 Lord of the Rings books and retired from teaching at Oxford. His books went off the charts in popularity, and he became very rich. He was so sick of the publicity he moved to a rural area where he wasn’t known. After a few years there, the ill Edith passed away. Ronald lived a few more years with grief, and the only thing that could take his mind off of it was his books, and his family. After a few years, the 81-year-old Ronald passed away.
