I think you chose some well thought out pictures and did a really great job explaining their metaphorical representations of citizenship and identity. I also think it was awesome that you noticed a difference between collective vs. individual citizenship and identity. I noticed this as well while I wrote my photo voice but I wasn't able to pinpoint what I was encountering.

Your explanation of your photo of the young girl with the firemen equipment had some great points. It was really interesting to think about your point that collective identity is often influenced by values that are held in our society, and how young these values can be instilled into us. It certainly is part of the Canadian identity to respect and appreciate those who sacrifice their lives in order to keep the community safe. I also think you made great curriculum connections, such as when you pointed out that empowerment comes from doing things for the common good. Thats definitely something we want our students to consider!
Your second photo of the circle of lego men was also explained very well. You pointed out that we all come together as individuals, but this is what makes society function. I think your reflection emphasizes well that if we all were the same, nothing would progress. I also think it was great that you pointed out that despite all being different, its important that we work together. This is especially true in a world where the complex problems we are faced with must be approached at a variety of angles by a variety of people who are willing to collaborate.
In your 'top of the world' photo, I liked your curriculum tie ins to not only physical geography but also Canadian resources. You state that part of citizenship is recognizing our connections to our land, which I agree with. It is important that students are aware of the impact that resources have on the Canadian economy, and how they have contributed to our country's success.
Your last photo was also well chosen. I really enjoy that you wanted to discuss immigration's contributions to the contemporary Canadian society because we all come from somewhere and this background is important to us. I believe it is important to acknowledge that many of us come from far parts of the world, but are still able to come together as Canadians. I also want to validate to students that who they are is important, and often cultural background is a meaningful part of who they are.
