Great way to spark children's interest in donating goods and their time to help those in need.<br><br>Discussion Prompts:<br>"What do you already know about the soup kitchen?"<br>"Did you know that you can volunteer your time, too?"<br>"Have you donated any old clothes, toys, or any food before?"<br><br>Engagements:<br>Students will organize a food or clothing drive by creating flyers to display throughout the school and their community. Students will collect items for the drive and donate items to community members in need.</div>]]></description>

A great text to show the joy of giving back to others in need.<br><br>Discussion Prompts:<br>"Have you ever felt similarly to CJ about not having what other people have?"<br>"Is there anyone in your life that could use your help or assistance sometimes? Maybe a grandmother or a family member that is sick?"<br>"What was your favorite scene from the text? Why?"<br><br>Engagements:<br>Students will create a Glog using the Glogster website. Students will select a scene from the text to either re-create or to re-write it from a different perspective.<br>Glogs will be shared through the class Edmodo page.</div>]]></description>
