I think this was important because i think she noticed that shes not a tool. Shes not going to allow for people to use her for anything anymore . She noticed that she's a person just like everyone else. Many things have gone terribly wrong and i think this shows her finally realizing that its a part of life.

The words and drawings of Mary Rose present a gritty, powerful, no-holds-barred true experience of a teen girl so desperate to be loved, so eager to fit in that she'll go to extremes that could cost her her life.

This is not a story about addiction. Or sexual promiscuity. Or cystic fibrosis. It's the story of a young woman with a powerful will to live, who more than anything wants to be heard… and loved.

This compelling, emotional account ensures her voice will not be forgotten.

I agree with this book review. The book may seem like it is about her sickness. It is more about her struggling to live with it. She wants to be heard and loved by everyone. Almost everyone she's interested are mini versions of her moms boyfriend. Her mothers boyfriend (Joe) is very abusive to both Mary and her mom. Her dad leaving in the first place made her really put her self in this shell. Also the fact that she moved schools really made her shy. Eventually she broke free of that by doing drugs and developing crushes. Sometimes she still feels like shes not being heard. It's a roller coaster ride with her life, You really can't predict what is going to happen next.

Mary rose struggled a lot with addiction. She has been to rehab a lot but most of the time still fell back into her addictions. Alcohol was one of her favorite things. She claimed it was always there for her. When her entire life came crashing down alcohol was there to bring her back up.
"Alcohol became the only thing I had left in my life to live for"(Rose 65). Even though it was very bad for her and she knew that. " It took me to heaven but left me in hell" (Rose 65). But she had no one so she turned to alcohol and it became a part of her.

Rope swing is pretty much a place were you hang out and do drugs. Mary most of the time was very isolated. Rope swing was like her safe place where she met a ton of people. She mainly went there so she could find Ryan. Ryan was her main love interest for most of the book. Rope swing is where they would hang out. So it became a big part of her life.
