  • For each Google Classroom you have, you can now generate a unique Google Meet link for the students in that Classroom. 
  • The link for the Meet can be displayed on the Stream page and the Classwork page of the Classroom so you and your students can access it easily. 
  • You can use the same Meet link over and over again anytime you want to video conference with your students. 
  • However, the students cannot join the Meet without you, so they can't access the Meet before you are there, or rejoin the Meet after it is over and you have left.

  • Consider that some/many households have parents working from home and/or going to work and trying to help students when they get home/get a break.  Some students get emails from multiploe teachers, SPED teachers, non-core teachers, other professionals.  Connection is good...consider what is the critical amount for you and your students.   
  • Please include teacher and class name in the subject instead of just Today's work etc.  
  • Use BCC if sending to multiple students to prevent Reply ALL slip ups.  This happens automatically when using the EMAIL students button in your roster.

    Videos continue to be a great way to connect with students.  So far I have recommended Screencastify and WeVideo to record yourself and your screen.  Flipgrid is an easier way to create videos if you don't need much editing or recording of your screen.

    In addition you can use your shorts as directions or an example in a flipgrid assignment OR just share the video directly with your students on classroom or witsmail.  Check it out.

    4. Consider grading after a round or two of feedback.
    5.  Change settings in the classroom, turn OFF assignments in Stream, Turn OFF student can post, Keep ON students can comment.

    When you share your screen...you can't see students...correct.  Here are two options.

    You have two options:

    1.  Log into your meeting (as yourself)  in a different tab and show your tabs side by side.
    2. Slightly better, Log into your meeting (as yourself, same google sign in) on a different computer
      1. Mute one computer or tab
      2. Show the presentation (only present a TAB not the whole window or screen) on the other.
      3. You will be able to see student grid on one login and your presentation on the other.

    It can be tricky but maybe worth a shot since lots of people are asking this question.
