For example, at the beginning of the movie as Charlie looks up at the crow as it flies away, it is easier to visualize the crow flying away as it's feathers fall. It really helps to emphasize how long Charlie watches this happen. It was like a novel being read to you, where the author uses substantial rhythm. To me, it was like reading a novel. It allowed me to imagine Charlie doing things while adding my own twist. "Statement by Gord Downie" follows this in bold, capital lettres, as well as the place -Okogi Post, Ontario- and date -september 9th, 2016- that this happened. What first strikes me is how well everything flows together and really seems to harmonize. From the background, to the movie link, to the fonts used it seems like everything belongs. I believe that the purpose of this website is to give readers a glimpse of the story, and all of the medias it crosses. I think the website does this very well, at the very top it tells you each different form this story comes in and when you click them it brings you to a small example and a new illustration. The author writes of Charlie fondly, which was probably controversial at this time. It seems like during the time of Charlie's death the world wasn't quite ready to accept indigenous people as humans. Before I read this article, I noticed it's date of publication: 1967. This made me assume it would be short, and maybe slightly racist but what I read was the opposite. I loved the authors sympathetic tone while writing this article, he seemed truly sad for this little boy and his family, even if the rest of Canada wasn't. The way that Boyden changes his voice and tone to fit that of a little indigenous boy not fluent in English is something that I don't believe could ever be captured in illustration.
