They are doing this as parks will be monitoring and preserving the area. Many economical and employment opportunities. More money is going into funding the falls for more marine parks to be established. This allows protection across the wide surrounding area of the falls.

However, these management plans are not stopping people from fishing at the falls meaning that not all wildlife is being protected. Also mining is still allowed within 10 kilometres of the falls.
