My freshman year of college I was in a car accident. I fractured my skull in 7 places, along with an acute subdural hematoma. To spare you all from the grueling details, it was tragic to say the least and I am lucky to be alive. I was in ICU for several weeks. When I was finally released my mom was telling me about all the people who came and visited me while I was in the hospital, I was very confused by this and told my mom the only people I remembered speaking to or seeing were her and my nurse. This spoke to me on such a level I decided then and there I wanted to become an ICU nurse. I fell in love with that city and felt for the second time in my life, aside from pursuing nursing, a pull of belonging.
