It does not state what time period or where he lives, the setting varies throughout the book based on his actions or where Luca is at that specific moment.

The protagonist of this book has to be Luca. I say Luca because in this whole story, he is just trying to get through it all. He isn't doing illegal things like his family and he isn't after anyone, or he isn't having an negative impact on anyone. And, he is also speaking in First person P.O.V so this shows he is the main character of the story, his actions and thoughts and feelings are very important and this shows he is intended to be one of the main focused on characters of the entire book

In the beginning of the book, Luca is very excited to go on a date with a girl named Angela. He takes her to the movies, and then to the beach. They grow a bond together, and Luca feels that they are clicking together as well. While at the beach, Angela tells Luca that she is cold and would like a blanket. Luca goes to the trunk of the car he used and see's Jimmy Rat in the back of the trunk (One of the fathers 'enemies'). Luca freaks out and his no idea what to do, but then Angela comes over to the car and flips out too. Angela demands that he takes her home and he does, but while driving her home the cops are doing checks on the drivers and their cars. Luca and Angela get very nervous and when its their turn, a car then pulls up out of nowhere and causes an accident by speeding up and slamming on their brakes, the car spinning as a result. In the car, Luca sees his brother in the driver seat. After Luca gets away and takes Angela home, he then discovers that his dad found out he took the car with Jimmy Rat still in it, so his dad sent his brother out to make a distraction for the police. (Pgs; 6-11)

Antagonist 1

The first Antagonist has to be the family and mostly his dad. If his dad let him take the car with Jimmy Rat still kidnapped, he led this all to happen and that led to the conflict of Luca not getting the relationship he wanted. His dad/his dad's business interferes with his life a lot and always messes up big opportunities for him. So, in conclusion, an antagonist of this story is his family that is involved in the mob.

Then, they both meet more when they both get head lice and they share the solution they got from the store. ( Pgs; 67-74) But, he then realizes that Kendra's dad is after his dad because his dad is in the mob. After a while, though, they start dating (Pgs; 88-90) (He took her out to a movie) but he has to be super cautious because he doesn’t want her dad finding out that they are dating.

The second Antagonist has to be Kendra's father, the FBI agent. The FBI agent causes these conflicts and the fear that Luca has because he is after Luca's father. Since he causes one of the main conflicts and is after someone in the story and he wants to throw his father in jail, he is one of the main antagonists in this story. He is making it hard for Luca to date Kendra because he wants to do no good to his dad by throwing him in jail.

Theme of the story

I think a big theme of this entire book has to be "Be independent, don't follow, be the leader."
I think this is the theme because in the story, Luca's father and his entire family pushes and encourages him to take part in the mob and to commit illegal activities but Luca does not want to be a criminal like his family. He wants to have his own path and he wants to lead his own footsteps, he doesn't want to follow in his families footsteps (Pg. 21). A lot of readers could relate to this since a lot of parents push and urge their children to be something that they want their child to be, not specifically what the child wants themselves. So, this book connects to a lot of readers and even a lot of people can connect to Luca because he is experiencing what almost every reader has gone through from their parents.

This book is a First Person P.O.V
It is first person because, the reader can look into the thoughts of Luca, know the deep down emotions of Luca, and know everything Luca knows, basically. It is like the reader is in Luca's shoes since it is using the "I, me" point of view. So, the readers know much more of the character than the actual characters of the story because the reader is in Luca's head and the reader knows Luca's emotions, thoughts, plans, etc..

Luca is a 17 year old boy that has slick black hair and dresses in a 'preppy' manner because his mom thinks its an appropriate entire for Luca. Luca is the type of person with a lot of deep down emotion and will only do what he wants do do, he will not follow others and he will do what he wants. He even says in the book ' I don't want to touch anything from my fathers business'. This shows that he is a very independent and he doesn't want to take money or anything that is stolen by the family business. (Pg; 26) He seems like a loving guy and not the type of guy to want a girl for her body, looks, but only personality. In the story (Pg; 45-48), some girl tries to get with him because his brother paid her too, but Luca denies it and refuses because he thinks its wrong to just go around doing that. He is very loyal and frank just like his father.

This connects to my story because, Luca's family is involved in the mafia just like Al Capone was, and Al Capone also has a son named Albert. So, Albert may have a connection with LUca as well because their fathers were both in the mob!
