According to the news article, half of the total population in Indonesia are young people below thirty years age. Therefore, this country has a potential large workforce. However, the unemployment in shows that approximately 20% of the Indonesian which is men and one third of young woman. Moreover, as in the amid robust of economic growth, the unemployment issues in Indonesia had fall sharply. Unfortunately, by 2014, this figure had declined to 5.7% which equal to 7.2 million Indonesian. The world Bank also had given a warning notice regarding the current situation which is the high level of unemployment. This is because, the unemployment issues in a country could bring a lot of negative impact on the country economic future and would affect the number of criminal cases in Indonesia. The unemployment in people would bring problem to the economy costs there will be drop in tax revenues and higher welfare or budget deficit. Other than that, female youth unemployment also in a higher percentage which is two percent higher than the male youth unemployment. This proved that gender equality is still an unsolved issue in Indonesia that had also affected the unemployment rate in Indonesia. However, when the number of unemployed people were increasing or the longer they are without work the more money the government has to shell out.

Summary 2: Unemployment Indicators Only Tell Part of the Story

Based on the news article, it claims that the standard unemployment measures do not reveal the real country’s unemployment problem. It stated that, to point an average or a real percentage to this unemployment problem would probably hits individuals on such a personal level. Cathy Webb, who was battling with a bacterial meningitis infection was laid off as a mortgage broker in 2008 and it was counted as job separation in the Labor Department’s which is considered as individual that are no longer part of the workforce. While the country's U-3 unemployment rate is currently at 5.5 percent, that figure only accounts for a small subset of Americans which for those who have actively searched for work in the last four weeks. Despite monthly headlines touting the number of new jobs generated and open vacancies waiting to be filled, the country's unemployment rate has yet to return to pre-recessionary levels after six years of recovery. However, six years after the Great Recession ended in U.S, it still has not intrigued to pre-recessionary unemployment levels. in my opinion, this is not good for the underemployed workers like Webb. This is because, the spending power of an unemployed person decreases drastically which in return affects the economy adversely.

Summary 3: Unemployment is a global issues and growth alone would not fix it.

According to the news article, to solve unemployment issues we cannot rely on the growth in economic alone. This is because, the world economy growth is not creating enough job opportunity especially to the young people. The news stated that according to a Standard Chartered Global Research study titled 'Making Economies Work,' slow recovery in developed countries has left employment far below 2007 levels, with six to seven million fewer workers in the US, UK, and euro area alone. Moreover, China alone had added 60 million non-agricultural job since 2007 even though these markets are not creating the right jobs sufficiently fast. Therefore, people are trapped in poverty due to unemployment. Also, it had resulted in the lost of people’s skills and talent in their field and become unemployable. To address the underlying structural and demographic issues stalking the world ‘s labor markets more direct policy measure is needed. Other than that, emerging markets needs to increase productivity and the quality of jobs because youth unemployment is a growing problem as more than 85% young people of the world live in emerging markets. In my opinion, every country faced the same job creation problem, however the country must pay extra attention to the unemployment issues as it also helps in the country economic growth as the demand for goods and services in the country also becomes excellent.

Summary 4: Philippines struggles with unemployment despite economic growth

Based on the news article, unemployment remains one of the main Philippines problem despite the rapid economic growth in recent years. In the second quarter of 2015, the figures show the rate at 6.4% down from 7% a year earlier. However, Philippines still faced the highest rate of unemployment in ASEAN region. This is because the job creation has failed to strive with the pace of expanding population. The number of people in the country are increasing more the job opportunity. Therefore, the labour force participation rate continues to be low as only about 65% of the population at the aged of 15 and above was looking for job. Other than that, the lower participation rate also because of the young Filipinos usually further their study before entering the labour market. Furthermore, the low quality of jobs also factors of the low job opportunity in the Philippines. Based on the Philippines unemployment rate graph, the graph was fluctuated from 2008 which 7.4% and decrease by the year of 2015 with 6.6% rate. Therefore, in my opinion, Philippines must gear up their economic strategy as unemployment issues are so vital to the point this country hold a record as the highest rates of unemployment in the ASEAN region.

Summary 5: Unemployment rate in Malaysia stable at 3.4%.

According to the news article, the unemployment rate in Malaysia were at steady pace which is at 3.4% for the third month in February 2016 hence remain the highest since November 2013. In the 2016, Maybank IB Research expects unemployment rate to average 3.5% from the last year rate which is 3.2%. Moreover, the total labour force had increased at slower pace annually by +1% to 14.7 million while employment growth moderated to +0.7% annually to 14.2 million. Then, the rise in the number of unemployment declined to +9.7% annually to 506000 in February compared with +11.4% annually in January. After that, all the number of labours of force, employment and unemployment increased by +0.4%, +0.3% and +1.0% respectively. In addition to this, the labour force participation rate decreases slightly to 67.6% in February 2016 from 67.7% last month. However, some of the company like Intel Malaysia, Megasteel Sdn Bhd, and British American Tobacco are the one that cause workers retrenchment in March to April as some of them plans to reduce workforce and closure. In my opinion, these would slightly cause the worker to lose their job. So, with the increase rates of unemployment other economy factors are affected such as the income per person, standard of leaving, health cost and poverty.
